I've used EPIC ever since it was forked from ircII. My current client-of-choice is EPIC4-1.0.1 as subsequent versions seem to have problems with some of the settings in my .ircrc

I first tried mIRC after getting Trumpet Winsock going on one of the Windows 3.1 machines at the state college in my home town, this after looking up the proper configuration settings to enable the 3Com packet driver on the systems there, then installing WINPKT. Previously the only use for the network cards in the system was to provide MS Kermit access to the shell server, which was running NCR's 386/486 Unix system. Boy, those were fun times. Never was a fan of mIRC though, and when I'm in Windows I tend to get on IRC by connecting to one of my other systems with PuTTY.

I use Trillian, but as an AIM client only.

I use epic when I don't have a local irc client installed (just ssh to one of my servers), bersirc in windows, IRCle in mac os x, any *nix is epic/bitchx.

I use trillian in windows for instant messaging, but as an irc client it fails.

Plenty of folks told me how great trillian but I culd never get it to work. Was advised to create a new account with it then I can import other accounts, anyone know about this? I figure while talking about an Irc client we can talk about how easy/hard they are.
