  • Problem with Redhat dsl connection

I just installed a distro of redhat 9 on my box and im having a problem connecting my dsl... i read the documentation and followed there directions - it says that its "active" however i cant reach any website, my modem does show a little bit of "activity" or it could be default ..."beeps" anyways - if any1 has had this problem on the redhat distro (slackware seems so much easier with its adsl command) could use help... my provider is sbcglobal - thanks ~_~

I believe you just answered your own question.......

"(slackware seems so much easier with its adsl command)"

Use Slackware if it's easier for you..

I got sbcglobal deal, siemens modem, I just have the modem go thru a router first, thus not only giving me more then one computer online, but allowing for wifi access to...my advice buy a router, I got a matching speedstream for my modem....works just dandy. This all allows you not to have to mess with that damn pppoe connection crap, router will just dhcp you an ip...and bam, internet.

Good deal - pppoe is crap... i'll look into a router thank's mucho ck3k~

Highwiz - I totally would use slack had I not accidently erased my iso disk and for some reason when I try to create another set of disks for the 9.0 and 9.1 (tried both) I either can't get a download ~ or when it's burned to a disk it doesn't boot...

Another reason: I paid $50 for this distro and I'm gonna use it! ~_~

I dont see the idea behind buying a distro...I mean you can donate and I think that is great. It is a free open source community, put down your red commi linux, and start slacking.

Would like to - however I can't figure whats up with it.... when I burn the iso (like i did time and time before and worked...) it doesn't seem to boot afterwards - in fact my computer doesnt even notice it as a bootable disk.. ~_~

What program you use to burn the iso? I would suggest trying out nero if that is not what you use now.

I would redownload the iso, cause it seems like it is corrupt...or reinstall nero, or it could even be an issue with your burner.

Actually...I think some of the Slack 9 iso's are currupt. I grabbed one at work the other day off of one of the mirrors (can't remember which one) and it burned me a big ole coaster.
                        perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'

Yea, I am fairly sure of this, cause when i was at defcon, i got one of the isos and it didnt work right, but twinvega's iso worked just fine.
