It depends on which files you're talking about. I'm looking at the .asc files on carroll.cac.psu.edu right now (in the /pub/linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-9.1/slackware/n directory), and they're all 189 bytes. The master list of md5sums (/pub/linux/distributions/slackware/slackware-9.1/CHECKSUMS.md5) is pushing 380K, though. This may be what you're thinking of.

Ah ~ yes I shoulda been more clear. The files I'm talking about are the ISO ones to make a cd...
        install-diskx.iso.asc
        install-diskx.iso.md5

Ok ~ I've just made my 4th coaster....
Sorry Octal ~ I suppose I musta done something bad to Slackware in a previous life or something...

Skroo ~ We met last month Briefly at your LA2600 meeting (I was the guy that walked by you and "Tommy Pickles" asking where Philipies was until I noticed the black LA2600 shirt you were wearing.... I was the first guy to show up besides you and Tommy... if you can remember ~ Anyways I was wondering if next meeting you could possibly hook me up with the 9.1 ISO disks that you know is bootible because I oblivously am having some downloading problems or buggy downloads on the ftp sites for some odd reason... if you need a few bucks for the cd's i'll be happy to kick-down... let me know =)

Thanks mucho's for all your Guys&Gals help so far~

Did you md5sum your ISO before burning it? There are some computers that can't boot from the image, starting around Slackware 8.0 or so. If you've md5sum'd it, and you can rule out a bad ISO, yours just might be one of those. In that case, you just need to make bootdisks as Skroo detailed on another thread.

What did I do to make you think I give a shit?

Yea that's what my plan B is - however I KNOW I can boot this... I created a slackware 9.0 iso before and it worked fine, booted up and everything, and Redhat and Win2kpro seems to all boot fine... I seriously think theres just something I'm forgetting about the burn process or that I'm just having horrible luck with 9.1 downloads... anyways thanks for your input if all else fails - that's my next plan, i'll keep working on it

                Ok I got it working.

I took your advice Octal and did a md5 check on it - no problems.

So I checked my nero and found that I had forgotten I had a distro of roxio burning software on here as well, and it was conflicting with the burn - so I removed roxio and Wala! a bootable disk... somehow roxio changes the iso files to be read only by there program, and it conflicts with the joliet in nero... anyways **WHEW** glad I figured that out after only 3 days (laughs) anyways thanks much for all your Guys&Gals help

Skroo and KeLviN - I won't be needing those cd's after all, thanks anyways and hope to see you next meeting...

I think that If you need help to answer than question than you should take some classes on redhat. Most schools have them and they are not expensive

No thanks - I'll admit schools probably do help alot - however I've been able to find any answer to my any question so far by either:

                    1. Reading the man/info pages.
                    2. Checking on linuxdoc.org
                    3. Checking forums
                    4. Asking people I know

I will be going back to school in January for Computer Science, but I'm big on: I want to know this, and I want to know this NOW! kinda guy, which maybe a curse as well as a blessing, noticing that your need to look cool has landed you a ban -

                    IcEbLAze

P.S-Besides from what little opinion I have achieved, Redhat seems to me like the WIndows of Linux OS's anyways...(from what I've read) - like I said in a earlier post - I was using it because A. I purchased it B. Because I accidently erased my CD-RW slackware distro I had.
