  • installing a subseven server

    Hello,

I was just trying to use subseven 2.1.4 server. I start the subseven server onto a computer and i get the following message: "entry point WnetEnumCachedPassword cannot be found in library mpr.dll".

I'd like to run this trojan once to see how it works, but i dont know too much about hacking.

Would you give me an idea.

    Pierre.

I'll give him the benefit of the doubt. He stated that he wanted to see how it works and didnt say 'y0 help me sub7 my teechers computer'. First thing I'd suggest is that you see if the required .dll is even on the box you are installing on.

I return whatever i wish . Its called FREEDOWM OF RANDOMNESS IN A HECK . CLUSTERED DEFEATED CORn FORUM . Welcome to me

The first question I think would be is, "Did he download one that doesn't work or did he download an incomplete one."

Another option: hit up Google and serch on the parts of the error message that are relevant to the problem you're experiencing. Hint: the relevant parts are 'WnetEnumCachedPassword' and 'mpr.dll'.

In this case, WnetEnumCachedPassword is an API call provided by mpr.dll (which appears to control aspects of NetBIOS sharing for Visual Basic - ugh); the file may have been renamed or removed. See if you can't find a recent copy of mpr.dll, install it, and check if things start working.

So are we talking about some l33t skr1pt k1dd13 t00lz written in Visual Basic here? Sounds like some quality software, especially if its programmers forgot to package it with all its component libraries...

I think/thought that Sub7 was written in Delphi
              Where's the dedication?

For all I know SubSeven was written in 6502 assembly and is dynamically recompiled to work under x86. I'm basing my findings on what Google returned for mpr.dll, to which several of the references were on VB forums and help sites (at least, the onles that listed the API call).

Visual Basic - to be featured on the upcoming Fox special, "When Scripting Languages Go Bad."

Personally I don't care... I just wanted to take a cheap swing at Visual Basic

There's no such thing as a 'cheap' swing at VB - they're all deserved.
