    not what i meant ....
about the choice of ap's but can see how that could be misconstrued.......

i was refering to the range thing. a site i read related to the extra distance useing this 'cantenna' in relation to the cost to build it is supposed to be superb.

that knowledge i thought may come in handy. to some.

thanks for the leeway though much appreciated.

yeah I picked up some of those Siemens cards at First Saturday in Dallas for 12.50 a piece.. Ive used them in combo with a D-Link 714 router and I got at least 100' thru 3 walls.. not bad for the cheepo card. Its not my primary card though, just a spare.. I sold the rest off..

As for Orinoco, be carefull what you buy, a couple people purchased some orinoco golds, and found that they had no linux support.. just recently a beta driver has appeared for Mandrake 9.1 and Redhat..

But up until now, no one had the card working on linux..
believe the model number was 8420-WD, Also known as the Agere Wireless PC Card 0110.

If someone knows of a compatible driver for this card on say Knoppix that would be great..
