You could use a linux boot disk like eraser to do a DOD wipe:

or

You could use a degausser such as this one to destroy the data:
http://www.datadev.com/ge4000.html

If you have to RMA failed drives from servers, and worry about the data on the disk because you are unable to format them then the degausser is nice.
