"Currently, there are no age restrictions for Notacon attendance, although the hotel may have other restrictions in regards to whom can book a room. We acknowledge that some materials, language and themes present at Notacon may not be suitable for minors, especially in the evenings. However, we do encourage people under the age of 18 years of age to consider coming with an adult, parent or guardian. To that end we are offering an incentive in that we will make a "family pass" available to qualifying individuals and their adult guardians. We will not be doing age checks, but will question individuals if they look or seem too young. "

I don't attend any Con's with "Family Passes".

In defense of my adopted home state, I believe Shakespeare wrote:

This royal throne of industry, this frozen shore,
The Flats of majesty, this seat of Paul Brown,
        This other Chicago, demi-paradise,
This blue collar breed of men, this little Warsaw,
This precious stone set by silver Erie,
This blessed plot, this earth, this realm,
        this Cleveland.

(Dunno, was that a little over the top?)

Astcell is the photography guy, the problem with the ship would be not having power to sustain the mass electronics and computers on board, or some smartass would play with an EMP pulse generator and we'd be stuck in the middle of nowhere drifting.

Not to mention that Lake Erie can reach 2-3 foot waves on the not-so-good days, and the middle of that time doesnt look promising if someone does bring out their HERF gear out. As for the mass computer gear, you trying to run a small datacenter on some sailboat? Just as long as you arent trying to stick in a few of these in a 24', http://www.linux-magazin.de/Artikel/..._von_vorne.gif I'd be more worried about the person with the EMP. Either way, you have no power, it wont be drifting, it'd be swimming or sinking, and I doubt many people can swim 9 miles with huge waves at them.

Yankee: wetw3rx is correct on #2. The only acceptable use of prose and poetry outside a Sig. is in the form of Haiku

I always knew a haiku was much more civilized...

#1 Of course. Chicago is worthy of being insulted on its own.

#2 May I at least resort to Vogon Poetry
