If you can't get into BIOS, and you need to bring the CPU speed back to the default level (recommended in your case), you'll need to open up your case. On the motherboard there will be a jumper (hopefully if will be labeled) move said jumper to the other position for about 5 sec, this will reset you BIOS. If you cannot find the jumper remove the battery, this can take up to three days to reset the BIOS. XP can be rather picky about the hardware setup when it is installed.

Also consider upgrading your mobo and CPU. I know it's expensive, but you will really see a performance boost.

    Hope this helps

I would repeat my post to you in this format, but frankly, if you can't understand the previous posts [or the already copious amount of knowledge already present within this thread] then changing the format of my posts to that of 5 year old lingo would STILL be unintelligible to you.

I would have included that information, but I thought even you might know that much already.

more effective would be 'l8r' (since the pronunciation of the word "eight" already includes a 't' sound at the end)... hth

He doesn't know what a POST is. While it's pretty damn basic knowledge, shit happens... people gotta start somewhere with their knowledge. Unfortunately, rather than politely say he's an idiot that doesn't know what you mean by POST and asking you to explain (or googling it!), he made the standard mistake of being reactionary and steering you back to spoonfeeding him an answer microsoft style.

Kidz, if you ask a question and you are not flamed, count this as a blessing. If you don't understand the answer (and it wasn't posted by an obvious fucktard), then use google FIRST, *politely* confess your ignorance and ask for clarification second.

And now I'm going back to doing something less painful, like grating my eyeballs out with an acid-soaked Brillo pad.
