It sounds like fun. Will there be a lot of other programmers there? I really want to converse with other programmers(i'm really only good at two languages php and java :|). I don't want to go there have have to sit in a room with a bunch of "l33t h4x0ring" discussing the "progz" they use to "h4x0r d4 m4inf4m3z". Its really annoying when you have to talk to those people in real life because they run around trying to know everything yet they know nothing at all.

The first thing to do is not define DC by any one sub-group. While at one point it may have been more homogenous, it's not any more. As much as the group as a whole tries to disclaim it, it's grown up. What you'll find runs the gamut. Skript kiddies trying to make a name, old skool hackers enjoying the comraderie, security proffesionals from the top companies in the nation, agents from most tla's, local cops from across the world, scene whores looking for their minute of fame...... and many of the attendees fit in multiples of the previously mentioned groups. What you'll find is what you look for. The media come there and look for the outrageous and they find it. Last year Phil Zimmerman gave a good session - at the same time the "hacker pron" girls were roaming the vendor area - which did the media cover?

I asked my doctor if Defcon was right for me. Turns out, it was the best thing I could have done. I have more energy, my coat is healthier, and my ringworm problem is solved. Thanks Defcon!
