It makes no sense that "Do not make up room" and "Do not disturb" are in English. Who's gonna make up my room, a goon? Of course not!

Actually that's what we do during the Ninja Networks party. Goons are all about the service.perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'Comment

During one of my stays at the AP (might have been DC10) I found a cloths pin with every possible Suitcase key hooked on it that wasn't in my room the night before. Most likely a maid "dropped" it.Originally posted by skrooI've never had anything stolen out of my room at the AP, but the maids do have a habit of leaving the master keycards out on the carts. Just something to consider.
I reproted it to Dean and I think somebody lost their job.
At the first Apachecon I went to my room, saw the maid had the door open. I walked in, removed my laptop, and she never noticed when she was in there. Again, went to security, filed a report. Fired I believed.
I noticed this year at con the maid had their carts blocking the doors pretty good, which would make slipping in lot harder.
Anyone that had thefts I hope you reported them to security at the AP. They take that shit real serious.--Shatter

I left a cannon battery charger in room. Im going to call tomorrow, but i bet they didnt "find" it.Originally posted by astcellI left stuff in the room after checking out and called the hotel from the airport. They said they would get back to me -if- they found it. With the toys I carry, they may ask well have found a stack of unmarked bills. Yea, I'll get it back, sure.
What irony. I have and have always had more faith in 6000 hackers than 60 hotel employees.Yes I'm back bitch!

I'm wondering if AP uses outsourced Maids during DC... just like they use the outsourced security company (guys in the light blues) to check badges.Originally posted by ShatterDuring one of my stays at the AP (might have been DC10) I found a cloths pin with every possible Suitcase key hooked on it that wasn't in my room the night before. and you have to wait in line for the talks :-\ thats the reason i always get a rooms at the AP .. i can sit on the couch in my underwear w/a beer while watching ..Originally posted by not5150I stayed at the Residence Inn: Marriot for DC. The great thing is that you can put a "Don't Make Up" magnetic sticker on the outside.
We did this for all four days... and they never came in. We just asked for extra towels at the front desk.
$80 a night on the govt rate :) 1 bed, a foldout couch and space on the floor for an Aero bed (which I brought). Free breakfast for all the people in the room... they don't check your status.
The downside is the 5-10 minute drive to AP.
hell, i'd probally do that in the talks anyway but i might get in trouble ;-)" I want to believe all of these things? But you caught me at a bad moment and I can't. "Comment

True. There is no full or partial nudity at DefCon....nor is there drinking.perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'Comment

Yeah one of the guys in my room commented not remembering having moved an item from one place to another place in the room. We had come back and found the beds made.
I had maid problems the whole trip.
One time I was woke up 3 times by different maids in less than 2 hours.
I was woke up once at the con.
Last year after the con we stayed at another hotel and tried to get the maids pin number so we could punch it in every morning and remove our room from the "non cleaned" list.
I swear, they are a pain in the ass.Comment

Despite the shitty things I said about the AP pre-con, the maids, did a great job for me this year. I had no issues. They didn't clean when the DND was in the door. Cleaned appropriately when it wasn't. Never touched my shit. Maybe I am the exception not the rule, but I was diggin' on the housekeeping staff this year.perl -e 'print pack(c5, (41*2), sqrt(7056), (unpack(c,H)-2), oct(115), 10)'Comment

Comfort inn maids walked in even when the DND sign was up. pissed me off. I was sleeping, and half naked.Originally posted by ChrisDespite the shitty things I said about the AP pre-con, the maids, did a great job for me this year. I had no issues. I wonder how many would attend a seminar on how easy it is to program those hotel room cards.
seriously people there is no security in the world behind any lock, physical or virtual.
The only scare i got is when the maid knocked on the door and i saw her face..holy balls she was frightening.Comment

Ours was great too. Same lady, possibly. They respected the DND sign and phoned our room one evening when we had left it out all day, asking if we wanted service. The stuff I'd left of the bed was neatly placed next to it and my toiletries were straightened up on the sink, but nothing else was moved. I was very happy with them.Originally posted by ChrisDespite the shitty things I said about the AP pre-con, the maids, did a great job for me this year. I had no issues. You were just hoping to get some of that hot maid sex action like in dem movies you watch.Originally posted by xChrisComfort inn maids walked in even when the DND sign was up. pissed me off. I was sleeping, and half naked.
Easy solution: deadbolt lock above the handle (card key over-ride required) and physical bar lock about eye-level. Usually if you have the deadbolt locked they'll just skip and then call your ass later asking if you'd like fresh towels. We own everything so you don't have to!Comment

yea but deadbolting takes more energy away. when your like half buzzed at 3am things like that just dont come to mind lolzOriginally posted by gzzahYou were just hoping to get some of that hot maid sex action like in dem movies you watch.

Here is an experience I had at defcon
OK, so we were sitting in the room and watching some of the talks when a guy from the hotel came around nocking on the doors and goes "House Keeping" I get up open the door and it was sa guy with a Trash Can, He had a key to all the rooms, I asked him what he was doing here and he said "I don't understand, no englis, etc". Well, I said what are you doing here you're not house keeping so what is the reason being? Well I called security and security said he was a "reporter" or some sort, and I told them you know it would be good if you hired people that did speak english becuase how do I know your guy is not going around the rooms stealing shit out of them. Well a few minutes later, while we continue to watch hte talks (this was sunday even) the security guard and the "head guy" for the "reporters" (I still have yet to know what a reporter is) Told me I didn't speak clear enough english to his worker, when I said. "What are you doing here, if you are not house keeping" I personally think that the Alexis Park should hire people who understands english. I was just concerned about other people's property in the other rooms especially while there is a guy going around claiming to be house keeping. As far as rent-a-car's are concerned, make sure your doors are locked. I don't re-call anyone getting their car stolen.
