Duh. I was thinking about something else entirely different that has nothing to do with this thread.

      Dont take the AP please!!!

please dont take the defcon AP because it servs a perpous (well atleast for me) and that is to atempt to use some of the tricks i just lernd in a talk or somthing... i cant tell you how nice it is to be sitting next to sombody FOR REAL instead of irc and be told how to do somthing... then get on an ap or online and fucking DO it with full suport of the person who's teaching you... i must confess i was not a pgp user untill this past defcon and i got the full crash course right there on my laptop on the CTF floor... The Defcon AP servs all kinds of perpouses from people lan gaming while waiting for talks to live updates to notes EX... hell i would say that it might be nice to have a permanint irc chan going at dc with a chan for each talk set up ahed of time so people could discuss and lern... this is just my opinion though.

no i dont use spell check :P

Verily, see them when they come to your town. Oh, I forgot, they're surf-punk and not techno. Everyone knows DC attendees only listen to techno/trance/jungle/drum-bass/and whatever minor differences they can attribute to what's basically the same thing. Sorry.

correct, except for the part about contest staff being able to pick out someone using fakeap to drive or bump up their drives. there are several techiniques: visual observation, the pre-drive of several vegas areas for a baseline. this year I used every wardrivers submitted data against each other and it worked quite nicely. what happens when you have an ap that is entirely unique but in the same location that everyone else drove :o what happens when you find a bssid that has different essids or flags than what every other driver found :o fakeap is nifty in its own right, but limited on practicality and quite.. outdated. shit.. the scripter will likely send only one beacon from each random config, so just tweak your client to ignore traffic that only captures one beacon from the host and you'll never even see the traffic.

you're probably the source of the fakeap traffic I saw, because the largest portion came from Friday's logs. iirc some conflicting data came in on the following days, but I think most of it pointed to Friday. In relation to the data found by the wardrivers, fakeap was a drop in the bucket and not even worth the time to weed out of scoring.
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

From what I observed some of the folks there needed all the REAL contact they could get. I never in my life saw sooo much intelegence and SOOOO very much inapitude to actually talk to each other and even less when it was a one on one conversation about something other than computers! Take the time to learn how to interact with another living human being!! Ya'll were great for the most part but some were completely lost!!!! Try being who you are for real and not who you want to be behind the screen.
