When I was a kid I saw a TV show where the bad guy stole a Corvette. They showed him certain wires of the alarm in a certian order, and the hotwiring in great detail. Guess what - later than night lots of Corvettes in town were stolen. The show did not last long.

Who is "they"? If you are refering to the folks that are irritating the piss out of the moderators the answer is yes, they will be. I can't think of too many folks (if any) that have been banned for being a complete wanker. I do know of some that have been kicked out for being a jerkoff..

The only times I have seen "hack" and "screen saver" correctly associated were:
                        1) A screensaver which involved graphics with blades, blood, and furry critter bits.
                        2) An "olde tymes" Windows NT 4.0 (maybe 3.51) "hack" where any .SCR would run as system. Users who moded a "specially crafted" .EXE to .SCR and could specify a screen saver could force a local priv escalation to system.

Screen Savers with video about hacking has as much to do with hacking as a picture of a pipe has to do with smoking.

Complaint: I finally get some free time to catch up on the fourms, and find this topic?

Blah! I tell you! Blah! :-P

(Hello to everyone. Sorry about being absent: Back in 2 months.)

Admittedly, I'm ill-equipped to have firsthand knowledge of this, but don't these terms refer to the same activity? In which case, wouldn't they hold the same meaning, even when used in a derogatory fashion?

                          Just looking for clarification...

Perhaps a jerkoff could also be an incomplete wanker? ;)

In the strictest of terms, they refer to the same activity. However, they tend to have different meanings when used as a term of abuse.

A wanker is a fool, moron, or ignoramus. The people asking how to hack fall under this category because they should have known better.

A jerkoff is a extreme smartass or belligerent person. The people that fall under this category do know better, and yet they do it anyway. Cronk is an example of this: he made a "teach me to how to hack" post in the same thread where Chris threatens to ban members who make such posts.

Well, for those out there pissed as hell about the TSS's little challenge, you got your wish. The Screen Savers ISP Fliped ape sh** and cut them off at the cable. I know the forum moderators must be relieved, and the "teach me to hack" requests will drop. I guess thats what you get.
                                P.S.
                                Chris,
Is it cool if I ask what you do for a living?
Just wondering because i couldnt find it on the user profiles.
                                thanks.
The only stupid question is the one that you dont ask.
Or the one that ends up in dev/null.
