I was thinking about questions about rules:
    1) I need help breaking into systems. What can happen if I ask for help with this on the forums?
    a) People will make fun of me.
    b) I will be called an asshat and my post moved to /dev/null
    c) I may get banned
    d) My post may be move to Fucktard Hall to record my stupidity in making a request for someone to break the law for me in a public forum.
    e) all of the above

There was a link provided to kol by Siviak in this threadthat I checked out. They require a user to pass a simple english test before they may chat. They even a section where you can slay "monsters" "74@7 7@1k 1!k3 74!5" (that talk like this) with a dictionary.

True, but viewing the member list:
20% of registered users have posted more than 1 post.
11% of registered users have posted only 1 post
69% of registered users have zero posts.

About one third of the registered users that have actually posted a message, only posted one message. A large percent of zero posters probably just never come back, but some must be, "smarter than the average bear," and choose to lurk.

You do have clever ideas. :-)

I don't know. I am not uber elite, elite, or even a hacker; I'm just some person who can use google. (heh)

What about those who just sign up for every technical forum they can find through google, only to forget 3/4 of them even exist, I mean, I know a few people who do that and then complain to me over AIM about "spam" from forums they really only forgot they signed up for and had the low IQ to specify "all messages to be emailed daily". Sorry if this run-on sentence did not add to the conversation, I just get into such a flow that my '.' key seems to disappear from my keyboard and be replaced by ','.
There once was a Windows box with no firewall. Keyword is, there once was.

I like the waiting period and roach motel ideas... What about merging them? For the first week or so after registration, new users would only be able to post in a particular section.

you know.. thinking back on it , I don't remember my first post. I think that if they are still around (Nully?) that we should bring them back.. I think that would be U3eR. As I recall my first post broke like 4 rules.
If I had a nickle for every time someone offered me ten cents to keep my two cents to myself... I would be a rich man.

don't worry, we've been tracking your activity specificly, in case any of the information could be beneficial during the next con :p

... you know.. blackmailing drinks poolside, etc

It does look like vB only keeps ahold of the last 500 posts you made. This may be a search setting, or a db setting on the server side. .. not certain.. by my guess leans toward the query done when you click on 'Find all posts'
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.
