You'll most likely find a lot of these 'elites' at Blackhat, if your lucky enough you'd see them at Defcon :-D.

The female Feds are pretty easy to trip up if you talk shop, ask them if they are part of the Defcon Widows Club, if they are there with their minor child, or if you attending Defcon because they want the upper hand with the program manager with the Boy Scout SANS view of information security and all hackers are EVIL.Originally posted by lil_freakI don't think this statement would apply to the female Fed's very well
The female NCIS officer who outted her partner during the Crimethinc talk, (for the shirts) were attending Defcons more than a couple years together, I had my suspections about them, but I have my usual quanity of Feds who know me, and want to be outted discretely without getting chewed out by the boss.
Don't think for a MOMENT that all the Feds at Defcon are exclusively male, there are plenty of females, with all branches of the government and military wandering around Defcon, many with powers of arrest, or the right to carry concealed for defensive reasons.
Woe, to know where that really cute female LTJG that was detailed to NSA at Defcon 6 is today...

Just speaking from what I've heard. Blackhat is much more expensive and as far as I'm concered a majority of the people who attend are sponsored by their company to do so.Originally posted by highwizardHave you ever been to either or are you just talking out your ass?Linux is not the answer, its the question; the answer is yes!Comment

As a Viet Nam Era vet who was 33rd Sig. Corp and who had a roomate who was fixed crypto...I saw enough paranoid military types (black ops) while I was in training to last me a life time. Feds have a certain air about them that is not really difficult to spot. They may hide their identity for a while but their programmed responses always give them away. The line from the movie, "Men in Black", while intended as a joke, was a good example of what I am talking about...the trained response to a simple question. The military bearing that comes from years of training and close association to others who had the same training. These things are difficult to hide.Originally posted by theprez98As active duty military, I agree.Last edited by Floydr47; April 24, 2005, 06:36.I enjoy talking to myself...it's usually the only intelligent conversations I get to have.Comment

Well stated and good point. I'd been thinking this but just didn't speak up. Thanks for the quality post.Originally posted by Floydr47As a Viet Nam Era vet who was 33rd Sig. I think you both proved his point for him..... Talk about people who take themselves too seriously.Comment

Man I wanted to go to Viet Nam in the worst way, but I was 4F for my medical condition. The condition was that I was 7 years old.Originally posted by Floydr47As a Viet Nam Era vet who was 33rd Sig. Corp and who had a roomate who was fixed crypto...
I have a mere 24 years service under my belt though. Cheers to you!Comment

I think the biggest misconception is that Feds are not normal people ergo some think that all of them conform to a certain stereotype but I understand your point and agree new agents are easier to spot.Originally posted by hackajarThis is not true. There is a distinction that has not been made about Fed's at conferences. Seasoned Fed's vs. N00b's. It's hard to spot a seasoned Fed that WANTS to hide vs newer Fed's that have the Gomer Pile look about them.Did Everquest teach you that?Comment
