              The actual story...

              The stophiphop.de site (which has the IRC channel in question) has the full story, so I think it is real enough.

              And believe me, there are st00pid people out there that think they can hack, yet won't get 127.0.0.1 jokes. That means they don't know it's loopback.

              Here is the story in original German

              And one of the first ones on translating the thing on English

              Now we really got some kicks from this ...

                Well thanks for clearing up the fact that the people who don't get it, don't get it because they don't get it. Now I really understand.

                Anyways, the entire 127- range works for loopback. Since we're on the topic of adding random facts into conversations.
