  • Defcon Radio -- Call for anyone who wants to be more than a poser!

Yes it's that time of year again. Are you coming to con to participate or just watch people drink and hope to see a tittie?

This is the 5th year of the radio and it's time to once again troll the forums for talent...

If you have any graphics (ie web), musical (dj, composer, etc) or just can rant on about technology for hours on end (and real rants, not just stupid shit) skills and wish to share with the community then come join Defcon Radio (DCR).

Get in touch soon, we only have a few weeks to get our shit together for this year!

    dmz

PS anyone who wishes to continue the radio on into the year beyond DC also be in touch and we'll work out how you can build a transmitter & receive real content to broadcast! It would be great to see hundreds of micro-power stations bringing our world to the world everywhere!!

I think some of the DC Groups who attend Defcon should look at Stepping up and taking some time to help foster this part of the community.

If a few DCG's went on and talk about their group, what they do, and cool projects or presentations they worked on.

    DC719, DC410, Dc206, DC404, DC503, DC707, DC530, DC702, DC801,

    h3adrush? Gm1? Noid? Dr. Kaos/Alkyllod? Con/mfreeck/telco? Ck3k/Crash? TwinVega? Hackajar? Grifter?

I know you all read the forums, so what about it? If you can't do it, maybe someone in your group can?

Yes we have contacted dmz offline. We have some radio junkies in our group (both engineering and on-air) and have extended our services. That also looks like an impressive list of dc local groups. Any thoughts on a groups meet-up (similar to fourms meet-up)?

After our talk at Shmoo, there was discussion about it. I believe Russr is the point man on that project.

Hmmm. How about a rant about how both the BSD and GPL license suck? I could even through in real life examples of why they suck. Sure to get the nurds worked up, from both sides, Linux and BSD camps.

If that doesn't tingle your spine how about a rant about how much of a tool ESR is?

                  GPL Rant

Can you rant intelligently or just general babble? The license are just that, trying to be legal documents. If you are going to rant on them get into technicalities...if you can do that then find me and we'll give you a microphone!

                        duh

What do you think...of course I do :) I'm trying to get this so that I can just sit by the pool and drink beer and let everyone else make it run :)

Hmm maybe this one segment would be worth having with 2 or 3 people around some mics and a bottle of scotch (or whatever the group poison is)...

Not to discourage you but this is my 5th year doing this. I wish i could sit by the pool; I only get time to sit by the pool from 2-3 am friday and sunday.

Actually with the response so far I'm hoping that this year there can actually be quit e a bit more interaction with the world around DC and vegas.

                              Information to be broadcast

As always, I am trying to get time (and hopefully with more people this might actually happen) to be able to not only announce what talks are going on but to also hopefully get interviews of those @ con, those presenting con and those making it happen.

My question is other than that and interspersed information of a tech and world relevance, what other stuff (besides music) would anyone think would be worth our effort.

As soon as we get a critical mass of people interested, I'll call an online meeting so we can actually get to the planning & scheduling process. Hopefully that can be in 2 weeks...
