Green Gas: Allowed as long as you don't light the gas ;) I would suggest being very careful with that though if you're modifying the gun, you really don't want to crack a high pressure line or anything.

Targeting: The system has to be 100% autonomus, so you can use a joystick *before* the match starts to calibrate but once the match starts no humans can be involved.

You have 7 months to become that talented. I say if you are interested go for it- if you say you are not that talented that just means you get to learn that much more cool new stuff. Find some people with an interest in your area and collaborate with them- that way each person can focus on a specific area and help make the learning curve for each individual less steep.

well as soon as i get a job the first things im doing is building a few computers. anybody with a few ideas on what would be good to learn for this and what reading i should do would be great for a pm. i do have a few learn c++ and visual c++ disks. just have to wait for the new comps to run them.

              Yeah,
              1) Having a project to work on is the best way to learn something.
              2) I'll be posting lots more code as soon as I get the target arena built, which should be about mid-feb. That may help you get on track for the weird parts like interfacing to the servos. There's already a lot of info on how to modify the gun and build the pan/tilt set up. If funding is a problem, you can probably get sponsored pretty easily since it'll only cost about $200 to build the entire thing.
