It's not missing, it's packed neatly away in storage for safe keeping.

I have left you pm with my contact information.

          RC,

I worked with KAIGoth on organizing all 3 of the previous LPCONS. I did the MCing in LPCON 2. Last year I was out due to a medical condition. You will recognize me when you see me. Come up to the LP Village and we will put you to work. If you feel comfortable maybe working with some newbies to show them basic lockpicking that would be cool. We are also looking for input on rating the difficulty of locks in the LP Village for the points competition.

See you in a few weeks.

Helping with the points competition ratings

I would really like to help out with the ratings. I've been picking for a couple years or so now. If you would like some entry level input I'd like to help. I would guess that helping on this would pretty much remove me from the points competition, but it just seems cooler to me to get a shot at all the locks and actually have to figure out how hard each one is.
Would it be better for me to show up early for that or for that to just be what I do for the first day?

Yep, without DOC there would not be an LPCON. You'll recognize him RC. It was unfortunate about last year. I tried to warn him that double digit doses of Viagra were not a good thing, but he just kept saying what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

Keep an eye out on the posts for setup times. I am going to try to find out if we can get into the skybox Thursday night for initial setup or not. If not, its early Friday morning. I'll let you know what I can find out. Being the first year in the new place, always something new to learn.

It'd be awesome if we could get in the night before to get things arranged and setup. :) Good luck to ya Doc.

oh, we damn well better be able to get in there the night before or i'll have steam shooting out of my ears. (anyone who's ever hung out with me at cons when i've been a speaker knows it's not a rare sight to spot me at 7:30 or 8:00 on the day of my talk, getting into my assigned room with laptops, gear, etc. just so i can test things before i officially go on stage. this tends to be followed by additional tests of sound, video, etc. the instant i take the stage. i'm a nut about "prepare early, install beforehand, test often")

i am really really hoping we have access to the space on thursday for setup. this weekend at HOPE we weren't able to get things rolling until friday morning and it was a pain... for about two or three hours we had people wandering around asking us non-stop "can you show me how to open a lock?" "where can i buy some picks?" etc. i was constantly thinking, "jesus, fuckers... i'm standing on a chair with power tools in my hands and dripping with sweat after moving 200 pound crates up a flight of stairs. can you back off for a bit?!?"

yeah, a thursday setup would rock exceedingly hard. i'll contact the DC staff about that right now. all in all, we (meaning the TOOOL / LSI village staff) have more of a burden in the thursday sense since we'd actually be setting up tables, gear, equipment, tools, etc. you (the LPCON picking contest folk) are, if i'm still following all the logistics, using the contest area as your operating space so thursday would just be a brief evening of double-checking your gear and then stowing it in the skybox. (most of us on the village staff list are, of course, prepared to help you with setup and takedown each day in the contest area, too)

heh, guess they'll get double-emails... well, grifter will, anyway. i had shot him a message at the same time about early setup. as for storage, at HOPE toool-usa just used heavy-duty transport crates locked with our armory locks and they were fine sitting out in the public space for the entire con 24/7. if we have a suitable place where we can chain boxes this year, i think it'd likely be alright to leave things there. folks with highly sensitive gear can opt to store some of it in my room overnight if they wish, i can volunteer a corner somewhere.
