So far 2005 audio and video is totalling 14.1GB, give or take.. with the handful of files leftover, I would guestimate 14.5 for the 2005 archive, maybe 15 if additional videos are 'found' and added as new entries to the existing RSS feed(s).

I've had to expand to a second torrent box, since my primary torrent box only has a 10GB drive. I can only guess that previous years of content will consistantly decrease in size as DT encodes backwards in time.. so the total collection should be well under 150GB. This will be spread out over time, since the project as a whole is quite tremendous for DT to be taking on.. then of course, the DC14 content will eventually come into play as a decent sized set, but that is considerably down the road <insert something about a horse and wagon here>.
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

..and with that said, here are the current torrents for Blackhat 2005. Audio should be good for the most part, a patch and re-release will be issued for the video torrent when the missing content is recovered.

Re: Past DEF CON Conference Content

First off, thanks for the video DT. It realy is nice to see the con after not making it last year.

I started off downloading these on the 7th June. I've noticed that a number of them have poor audio, hissing etc. I was wondering if I should reget the ones that have problems, it sounds like some have been updated, although my feed say nothing but Dan Kaminskis talk has been changed since the 1st.

Can I assume that the missing talks from track 1 and 2 on day 1 and 2 will appear some time in the future?

edit: wasn't overly clear, but I'm refering to DefCon and not the Blackhat video

Unfortunately, if the audio is bad, that's from poor recording, and nothing we can do about it. This year I'll put more pressue on the recording company to make sure their stuff is working properly!

I'm getting a file not found error for the DC13 audio, video, and the DC12 videos.

that's odd...i had another person try it from a different location and they got a 404 too.

edit: just to be clear...it's a 404 for the content itself. the feed looks good.

                            Should be back, try again.

Sorry.. 200GB took a dive during con and I was not around to recover. All should be well now, with more content slated to be torrented after I recover a bit and get life back in order.

DT covered in this post that there were RSS feeds (xml format) that contained descriptions of the presentations as well as links to audio or video (depending on xml link selected) so users could see or hear what they wanted.

The torrents, so nicely put together by converge, just made it easier to share the load of all of each kind of content among many users, and package them conveiniently as a torrent.

For the audio/video for BH, check the link to the post above and you can download each audo or video file "the old fashioned way" with an http link by using a web browser and the information found in one of the RSS feeds.

The torrents for ISO of the CDs given out at BH and DC are covered in another thread.

                                HTH.
