The Defcon Forum Meet will return for its fifth year on Friday August 4th between 8pm and 11pm. The Forums have grown to over 9,000 members active within the past 2 years and here is your opportunity to meet other forum members at Defcon.
When: Friday, August 4th 8pm-11pm
Where: Skybox! #206 (map)
What: The Forums meet has been an opportunity to meet and greet forum members, lurkers, and tards alike irl under various influences. The timing has traditionally been aimed in between opening day talks and the onset of Hacker Jeopardy. A long way from the smaller poolside chat at Defcon 10, the modern meet has developed into a loose timeframe, mellow-party atmosphere with folks wondering in and out of the meet as they can break away from other things .. but is generally paced by those that attend. Bring something cool (like robots, or homebrew!), or just show up and see what happens.
Subevent: Nonelectrified Game Challenge
Take any normal board/card/spoken game ... and tailor it to the Defcon community, the forums, or hacker stylee. It could be as simple as hacker scrabble or pasting avatars onto chess pieces, or as complex and cool as you can contrive. Judges will be, erm.. probably a panel of people chosen on site. Prizes will be .. cool points.. and lots of them... and maybe a pat on the somethingerother. At minimum folks might just play a game or two while chatting with each other. Games should have a defined ruleset and use no power.. not even batteries, although chi is acceptable.
