Ok so I'm new here and dont really do the forum thing to much so my apologies if I come across wrong to anyone.

I have always wanted to go to defcon just to see it in person, but have never really had the money. I must say now that I dont know where the meeting are here in my home town and even if I did I wouldnt have time to go to them. I work 4 jobs and have a wife and kid but such is life right? I am basically offering a ride from Dallas to Vegas and back and half on a hotel room if anyone in dallas is interest.

My wife actually approved me going without her or the rest of the family and so I am taking advantage while I have the chance.

Anyone interested feel free to get in touch with me.

btw... I drive a mustang so only 4 seats so far this is me and my roommate so there are two open seats.

What would be the best way for someone to get hold of you? Will you be checking your forum Private Messages (PM) for contact? If not, I suggest posting some type of e-mail/IM/notification address.

Also, I don't know how much you plan on packing, but I do know what the trunk capacity is on a Mustang, will you be able to haul 2 additional people plus everyones luggage? Not trying to rain on your parade, just want to make sure you are setup for success with your trip. :-)

I'm not looking for a ride, just wanted to see if you can post more information to get better results. Welcome to the forum.

You might want to read over TheCotMan's suggestions for posting a ride, could help out.

    1) Include the best method of contact. Forum PM? Reply with post? Include an e-mail address and request e-mail? (If you choose PM or reply-in-forum, then consider "subscribing to the thread" so you get e-mail notices for each new reply since your last visit. If PM, then consider altering your UserCP so you get email notices when you get a new PM.)
    2) What are your dates of travel, or room-time? Wed-Sun? only Saturday? If driving, time and location for pickup should be considered.
    3) Any requirements: Smokers/Smoking in room/car? Drinking? Room rules? Cost in dollars/trades? Reference from someone you know? Minimum age? 18 or over? 21 or over? Male/Female? Sexual orientation? Will room-keys be offered?
    4) Is the room space a bed? couch? floor? bath tub? Is the car space for one human? How much baggage do you have, or have room to let others use?
    5) What kind of car with #seat/#passengers? Which hotel? What kinds of room?

    Good luck!

      oops.

Well your right I hadnt thought of how people would get in touch with me... I just assumed that people would reply to this post. But there is a better way. romsieze@yahoo.com is my actual email address.

So far as trunk space I pack light usually a small backpack and a laptop bag. The family and I go on trips to oklahoma once a month to see her other kids. That usually involves all the pillows and blankets on our bed, my backpack and laptop, her duffle bag of clothes and my 1 year olds cloths, the fold up play pin, and my roommate dufflebag full. Along with other misc. items. I have a bass box in the trunk with all this.

So i figure that my car could fit the 4 decent size "Week long" duffle bags. I dont suggest the laptops be put in the trunk as I worry about the bass box in the trunk clearing them.

I was planning on leaving the tuesday night the week before the conference, and heading back the day after the converence. So far as a room I dont have one reserved or anything, I was planning on getting one reserved this weekend depending on prices I can get.

Thanks for bringing that to my attention and if there are any takers I will be on the form most everyday as my job is sitting on my buttox taking maybe a phone call an hour and other then that it is browsing the internet.

For more direct line of contact you can reach me on yahoo. SN = romsieze. I would use irc but work doesnt allow it.

It was after I saw your post, and I had flashbacks to last year, when people would post an offer or request, with many followup questions, that the suggestion of "information to include" was added. :-)

An FYI: there have been reports that the Riviera Hotel and Casino "Defcon room block" (pre-allocation of rooms for Defcon people and conference) has been sold out for Saturday. At least one user reported success in getting a room at the Riviera anyway, so depending on how creative and persistent you are with your reservation, you may find success. Also, if people give up reservations, free slots may become available.

We have a thread with discussion of alternate hotels near the Riviera on the forums, here and elsewhere. (Use the forum search to find more.)

            Re: Dallas, TX

This is why we keep this section closed until about 2 months before the con:
People tend to change plans quickly, the further away con is planned.

As we get to about 2-3 weeks pre-con, arrangements are more likey to be solid more than half the time. (This is only a guess.)
