I keep having dreams where Deviant is in them. For example I had one dream where I needed to find him to give him ice cream before it melt, and then running around in a panic thinking i wouldnt find him. And then one dream which simulated an actual experience where we were both sitting on a chair and i had my bac read and then in the dream he discloses that he is a super spy and converge is a robot explaining his lack of conversation and then i look over and converge is putting easy cheese into a bucket of nickles. All the while FX and Neil are drinking and contemplating something to do with a life size something..i forget it just got werid at that point.

I am finding it hard to focus on my normal job and even harder to curb the urge to bring my bot to work so I can get some work done programming it. I even worry about the blasted floresent lights bothering my IR detctors. Also mornings are a event in how much caffenne and sugar it will take to keep my eyes open.

I don't have to put all my free time on the scavenger hunt or the robot contest? I can put effort into doing new diffrent non-con realted projects? This concept confuses me to the point where I can't get started on anything new yet.

I came back, feeling that life here was hum drum, boring, nothing going on, nothing to excite me.

I was craving alcohol 2 days after I was back. Went to the store to get something to drink between sodas. I guess my body has incorporated alcohol
into its needed operating substances.

I was bored for the three days of DEF CON (and the day or two of recovery afterwards) because the forum traffic went to almost zero and I had no good stories to read. Now reading stories of dreams, insomnia, robots, Red Bull, vast amounts of alcohol and good music, I'm good again (yes, even reading about alcohol is close enough for now).

This I can relate to. In addition to the typical caffeine drag (I dry up tomorrow, water only for a while, fucked if I even consider detox AND work .. um no):

Upon return I immediately was annoyed by people, moreso than normal. You'd think all the tourists in Vegas would have things beat, but I swear I could have pushed, shoved and completely mauled an entire grocery store of dumb people that could barely articulate which foot to move in turn. Granted.. the defcon group has its share of tards et al, but a grocery store full of people moving and thinking in slow motion .. must not .. rip.. off.. heads. After swapping wit with some of the coolest folks in Utah for a week, swapping ideas with and gleaning off the brightest minds our community has to offer.. I've got to amp down a little before I explode. I liken it to getting high off of those way brighter than I could possibly be in the next 5 years. I greatly recommend it.. in Defcon sized doses.

..oh.. and I'm having dreams about Deviant Ollam and easy cheese.. wtf is that about? *cough*fridaynight*cough?*

if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

I see this (mostly) as a good thing-- people at Defcon not using the forums unless the have to use them.
(Last year, things were very slow on the forums and elsewhere, when I stayed home and skipped DC13. It sucked to not be there, and a lack of discussion was even worse.)

I gained the power of being more social with people than I've ever been at Defcon, but at the cost of sore feet.

I tried Greyhound this year-- NEVER AGAIN!
I gained the power to tolerate stupid people in greater numbers than I ever thought possible. I met 6 people that claimed they were smart, but I think these were more claims for reassurance than anything based on truth.

I gained the power of Short Attention Span Disorder, where I would-- Ooo! Shiney.

I gained the power to ignore the idiot beeps of the GOLDEN VAN OF DOOOOM we bottomed-out on the way to the ToxicBBQ.

.. see .. I thought I was amazingly, tiredly outgoing and social throughout all of Blackhat and Defcon .. I think I spoke more to others there than most of the year and in some cases felt I was speaking/blabbing more than I should... yet others would argue that I was 'like a robot' (nikita!?) or otherwise spaced out the entire time (meee!?). God.. women are hard to please sometimes.

I still think that's one of the craziest rides I've heard .. next year I'll avoid flying and we can caravan down instead or something (time permitting). It was the plan this year, but work changes and other factors encouraged the flight .. stupid airlines.

I don't think we hit the max weight limit, we only bottomed out when hitting bumps.. next year I'll need to purchase more alcohol.

My sleep cycle is all fucked up. I don't get tired until 3-4 in the morning... if that.

It sucks because the rest of my life isn't on 'vegas time'...

I seem to be sleeping during the day I will go to sleep around dawn and wake up when it is dark, I think Defcon + Alcohol made me a vampire.
