  • Merry Christmas 2006

I realize that this is an old thread, but it seems to me that this is an annual thread. With that said, let me wish a Merry Christmas* to all my friends at DefCon Forums. Thanks for your help and advice throughout the year. I hope that everyone gets everything on their wish list and that some get what they truely deserve . May the New Year offer you happiness and prosperity.

*Disclaimer: To those who are not Christian my Merry Christmas to you is meant in the spirit of the season and in no way is meant to force upon you my religious beliefs, creeds, or ideals.
I enjoy talking to myself...it's usually the only intelligent conversations I get to have.

Believe it or not, here in Qatar I see MERRY CHRISTMAS on banners in the stores, dozens of Christmas trees in the mall, decorations, and Christmas (not holiday) music.

Someone please remind me again how free our country is?

I see (and hear) the same thing here (and more) in "the states". I believe you are referring to what I shall call the "bitch-and-moaners" (or BMs). I'm sure you have your fair share of BMs in Qatar, but this country feels the need to give BMs a national spotlight in the media. Just ignore them ... it's not worth the effort.

                Re: Merry Christmas 2006

                Compliments!!!

I am Dr. Beung Oleh, and I am contacting you on holiday cheer of a huge sum of Christmas joy from a deceased heart. Though I know that a wish of this magnitude will make anyone apprehensive and worried, but I am assuring you that all will be well at the end of the blessed day. I decided to contact you due to the urgency of this wish.

I earnestly seek your assistance to enable me wish the sum of much Christmas joy into your heart.

                MY PROPOSITION:

Some years ago, a Foreigner, Late Mr. Flung Poi an Oil Merchant with the Federal Government of Senegal, who died in plane crash a couple of years ago. Until his untimely death, he was a known and major customer in our bank here in Dakar-Senegal and until his death had a wish for Merry Christmas to everyone at the Defcon Forums. Due process was adhered to and the Post Office served notices in the National newspapers and also through the embassies High Commission inviting the next of kin of the late Mrs. Flung Poi.

Efforts were made by the management of the Post Office to get in touch with any of the forum members or relatives of the Late Mr. Poi but all efforts proved abortive. In accordance with the Post Office Guidelines enacted in the Mail institutions Act of 1976, Post Office guidelines stipulates that in the event of death of any of its Foreign customers, notice should be filed at the foreign Home office/Embassy of the Foreigner inviting the next of kin to the deceased Foreigner. The Management of the Post Office has been expecting his next of kin to come over and claim his wish because the cheer cannot be released unless somebody applies for it as next of kin or relation to the deceased as indicated in our banking guidelines and laws but unfortunately we learnt from the embassies High Commission that all his supposed next of kin or relatives died alongside with the Late Mr. Flung Poi in the plane-crash leaving nobody behind to claim the Christmas cheer in late Mr!
. Flung Poi account with us.

It is therefore upon this discovery that I and other officials in my department now decided to make this holiday proposal to you and release the wish to you as the next of kin or relation and we do not want this cheer to go into the Post Office archives as unclaimed joy. The mail law and guidelines in Senegal stipulates that if such cheer remained unclaimed after a specified period, the wishes will be transferred into the Post Office's treasury as unclaimed cheer. The request for a foreigner as next of kin to Late Mr. Flung Poi in this holiday season is occasioned by the fact that the Late Mr. Flung Poi was a foreigner and a Senegal cannot stand to represent as next of kin to a dead foreigner.

It is in this regard that my colleagues and I now seek your permission to have you stand as next of kin to Late Mr. Flung Poi so that the Christmas joy will be released and spread into your heart as the holder's next of kin. All documents to enable you get this cheer will be carefully worked out. We have secured from the probate an order of mandamus to locate any of the deceased Beneficiaries. Please if you are favorably disposed towards assisting us, I will appreciate if you communicate your thoughts to me via my direct email. On the successful pursuance of the holiday season, the Christmas cheer will be shared thus: (1)Your share of the wish will be 27% of the total bulk sum (2)I will keep 70% for myself and other members/Board of Directors of the Bank. (3)3% will be set aside to cover any incidental expenses that may be incurred vis; telephone calls, and taxes that may accrue in your country as a result of recepti!
on of cheer of that magnitude into your heart.

All logistics are in place and all modalities worked out for the smooth actualization of the holiday season within eight working days of commencement after receiving the following information from you: Dedicated telephone and fax numbers, Bank Details vis: Account #, Routing number, Account name. If you are able to handle this, feel free to reach me on my e-mail address for a perfect understanding of the holiday wishes. Time-frame needed for the pursuance of this wish to a positive conclusion is presumably eight (8) days (excluding weekends).

Thanks in anticipation of your positive response.

                Yours faithfully in DT,

                Dr. Beung Oleh
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.
