This site has gas taxes by state. That's on top of the 18.4 cent per gallon federal tax. Some localities may have county or other local taxes.

Finally, I thought this was interesting: it breaks down a barrel of oil by ultimate destination.
Thanks. The Gas Buddy Temperature map confirms something that I've long suspected, and that that the cheapest gas in the east is in the Paterson, NJ area. I travel through there about 6-8 times per year, and it always amazes me that not only is it dirt cheap in comparison to home (usually by about $0.30/gal.) and other places I travel, but that they also provide full service. For those who don't know, by law, gas in NJ must be pumped by the station attendant.

Actually at Getty stations they pump your gas for ya to at almost the same price. Good for the elderly and the disabled. I tell my parents to go there because my father has trouble walking and he usually got the gas for the cars, now me step mom has to do it.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should. This applies to making babies, hacking, and youtube videos.

Not around here. Getty here is self service, just like every other place. I couldn't find a full service station within 100 miles if my life depended on it.

I always get a laugh when NJ tourists pull up to gas stations here and expect someone to pump their gas for them. I think the last full service station around here which was owned by a guy I went to highschool with, just closed a few months ago.
A third party security audit is the IT equivalent of a colonoscopy. It's long, intrusive, very uncomfortable, and when it's done, you'll have seen things you really didn't want to see, and you'll never forget that you've had one.

I was getting gas recently, when a lady from NJ pulled up to the next row of pumps. She sat in the car for a couple of minutes, and finally got out. She then stood and stared at the pump for a couple of more minutes, looking over the instructions, getting more glassy-eyed with each passing second. Finally she went into the station and came back with the cashier. He showed her how to run the pump, asked her something about how come she'd never done it before. She replied that that in NJ, it's against the law to pump your own gas. His jaw hung open for a second, and he walked away shaking his head. It was kind of a toss-up who went away more shell-shocked; him for hearing that in NJ gas stations are required to have an employee pump the gas, or her for finding out that in other places the law doesn't require full service.

Oregon's got the same thing. It tends to make me postal, to have some slackjawed pimply teenager overfill my tank so that it can drip out the side while I'm driving and make the nice permanet streak along the side of the car. I stand there, and tell them to set the pump and let the damn handle go, and when it clicks off that it's full, to take it out, and to *NOT* pump more in after that click.

As some of you may know, I can be a bit intimidating, so they usually listen. If not, I yell at them, and they'll stop. I nearly always fill up just before I cross the border into Oregon, and drive across the state, getting gas on the other side in whatever state I end up in (usually WA or ID).

              It's a stupid law.
