I saw the movie freedom downtime with a friend i dont know if it was before the release or after though. It was truly a long movie. The concept of it is fine by me, im glad a movie was made on the subject for the people interested.
As far as paying for it, that is up to the fans and people who follow 2600 magazine and events. I can't say I would since I've seen it played all around, from a friends bedroom, to a film festival that ran it in vegas.
I think the movie should have been aired last defcon and if not it should be aired this con because although some people may not be interested in it i know many people were asking about it last year trying to figure out when it would be played. Primetime or not, doesn't matter - the people who WANT to see it will make the time to see it...
And have the Feds argue AGAINST it and the hax0rs argue FOR it...
I wonder what sort of thinking would come out of two groupsd of people thinking things that they never would ever consider. Maybe some unused brain cells would come out of hibernation for that one. :)

I would love to watch such a debate, I don't know for this year, but perhaps next and from then on we could have such a debate each year on some current standing...
Though I wonder if the Feds being against it would pose a problem with their career... or even the hacker's...
Playing devil's advocate will show you the holes in your own argument, and even help you to see another's point of view. We hack on our firewalls for added security, why not hack on our arguments?
We can easily boo a fed (or if you are a fed, boo a hacker) for their arguments, but when a buddy makes the statements you pause.

The winner of the debate (either by obvious argument, or by room votes(clapping, cheering)), could win a tshirt for the team... such as I outsmarted the Feds, or I outsmarted the Hackers printed on it with the debate topic and the dc year...
Well you figure this would be a good way to work on social engenering skills, or how to structure an argument in a heated situation. Hmm it dose look like a good idea thought.
But wait to make it more interesting, every time the feds or the hackers miss a point or screw up there argument they have to drink, after all alcohol brings out the best in all of use and the conversation will shurly degererate.
There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root.
Since we have jacked this thread... how about we also have a Shoot the Fed paintball game.. have a paintball team of Feds, and Hackers... and just spend a few hours shooting paint? ;)
