    warmobile???

    We have been talking about the tech gear alot. I am starting to wonder about how all the gear, people and stuff is going to fit in a vehicle. I know my front seat is full of laptop, charger, GPS etc. when I am solo wardriving.

    What do you guys have in mind for the size of the vehicle and what the people inside are going to do?

    1) Driver
    2) somebody looking at laptop
    3) somebody oggling chicks and looking at a map.

    For multi-vehicle teams, how are the people going to communicate between vehicles. Cell phones? Radio? If I didn't already know Las Vegas because I live here, I would bet I would crash trying to do all of the above while rushing around in a two hour contest.

    Plus, these people here in Vegas drive like shit, especially the gambling tourists..

      Hopefully a team isn't using something like an Echo and trying to fit 4 people with gear... and end up killing the battery, or blowing fuses.. The driver should concentrate on driving and nothing else, and have an understanding on what to look for and to follow the signals from the navigator as well as from the grunts of the peanut gallery.

      Personally I always end up yelling at the driver because they aren't reading my mind. Plan ahead, and always have a plan B. :)

      You always have FRS, HAM, CB, etc... for communcations though realize also that if it is a public band, that someone else may be listening as well. Though most players will be busy enough driving around to find a hot spot or two while dodging traffic. Keep everything legal, obey the speed limits, traffic laws, fcc, faa, etc. Keep it legal and you should be ok.

        Yeah, spilling a beer onto your laptop after you ploughed into the back of a tourist_mobile would really suck.

                      I am not finding much in the way of 802.11b for the Toshiba e310 PDA. Anybody heard of anything?

                          Orinoco -> Red Hat 7.3 ??

                          Isn't the wireless ethernet config supposed to be a piece of cake GUI in RH 7.3. or do I have to get unlazy and mess around with some compiling in some directory somewhere?

                            Should be cake across the board out of the box. Though some people suggest using 7.2... you can check out more comments here:

                              directional antenna??

                              I don't want to use a coffee can for a directional antenna, so can anybody recommend a way to buy a directional antenna and then fab up a hand held handle for it. Fab-corp?
