Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
I read that first. I'm not worried about it. There will be a shoot or it will be canceled.

Just an FYI, if you haven't been looking at the other threads in this event, please note https://forum.defcon.org/showthread.php?t=10501. No word on alternative locations yet, but you might want to keep an eye on here while making your travel plans.Leave a comment:

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
I'm flying out Wednesday afternoon. I will be bringing my Springfield XD-9 and as much ammo as I can get through check in. I know at least one other person who's looking forward to the shoot. Where do I sign up to be put on a carpool list?Leave a comment:

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
I'd be interested in going this year, permitting I get Thursday off from work...the verdicts still out on that one. I can provide a ride for myself +1 to the grounds (two seater). This will be my first time attending the shoot, but I have been coming to the con since DC10. Im local, so I can scout out ammo pickup spots on the way to the grounds. As of late its been fairly difficult to locate any ammo in town at a reasonable price, and some calibers sell out within an hour of being stocked. Ill be bringing a Glock 19 + Moss 500 Tac Cuiser for people to shoot freely provided a donation for ammo.
Looking forward to it.Leave a comment:

So there will be no storing my firearm in the Riv safe lol. Alright, in the room it is. I'm going to need a sturdier box anyways for the airline part...

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
Well, crap. I'll have to talk to my driving buddy and see if he's willing/able to leave a little earlier Wednesday afternoon or something, then. I'd really like to come out and shoot with some other geeks and see everybody's toys...Leave a comment:

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
The new DEFCON Shoot takes place in the rather early hours of Thursday morning, pre-con. While 7:00 AM might be a bit ahead of schedule as far as range time goes, that's surely about when people meet to carpool their way out there from the hotel.Leave a comment:

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
I've seen it asked a couple times, but haven't seen an actual answer yet: Has a day and time been established yet? I'll be driving down and am interested in attending the shoot, but I don't think I can make it by 7:00 Thursday morning without breaking several laws on the way, which I'm not excited about doing with a car full of guns... =P
I suppose I could always just pick up some hookers and blow and go for the trifecta, though....Leave a comment:

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
There are no special procedures.
Just keep it locked up and try to keep it out-of-sight.
Yes, it's ok.
Don't open carry and you'll be fine.
IMO... Don't ask, don't tell.
All casinos have a no weapons policy for liability reasons.
However, it's just their policy, not the law.
If they find out you have a firearm, they can do several things.
1. Ask you to store it in your vehicle. 2. Ask you to store it in your room. 3. Ask you to store it with security. 4. Ask you to leave the property.
So, don't tell them and store it in your room. It's what I do.
I've carried a firearm in Nevada for the last six years, never had a problem with any hotels/casinos.
Secure it in your room, in a locked container and don't advirtise you have firearms/ammo in your room and you'll be fine.
IMO...
Please do not open carry, especially if this is your first time in Vegas with firearms. Even though open carry is legal in Nevada, there are some things you need to be aware of. So, unless you know them, don't do it.
Unless you have a valid CCW permit, please do not carry concealed. If you do plan on carrying concealed, check this website before you leave for Vegas, to make sure Nevada honors your CCW permit. If you are going to carry concealed, send me a PM and I can tell you all about Nevada's laws regarding concealed carry (where you can & what you can/can not do).Last edited by Quiet; July 1, 2009, 10:21.Leave a comment:

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
I’m thinking about going to the shoot this year. I read on page 2 were it was suggested to keep it in the gun in the hotel room. I will be staying at the Riviera, and am curious if there is special procedures to be able to keep the gun in your room? Such as if it’s ok carrying it through the hotel to your room for storage(inside of the tsa case of course), or if you need to tell the hotel that you will be carrying a firearm to your room? Any suggestions or comments from anyone who has done this at the Riviera in the past would be much appreciated.Leave a comment:

[NOTE - THIS IS NO LONGER THE CASE... NO CLASS-III THIS YEAR AS WE ARE AT A NEW LOCATION FOR 2009 THAT DOES NOT ALLOW FULL-AUTO]
there will be a Class-III package again this year. i'm hoping to make it less than the $200 for three guns cost of last year. i'm sure that as things get closer we'll sort out more ride options, etc. i'll put you in my master database as "ride needed"

Re: anyone interested in doing this again?
Also, are there places nearby to buy ammo? I'm sure I can buy my 30/30 ammo anywhere, but I'm looking for 7.62x39mm. otherwise, i might have to order it off the web to e delivered to the hotel I don't have a problem with anyone shooting my guns, I usually encourage it. I wouldn't even mind holding a longer range target competition for larger caliber scoped rifles. If anyone else is bringing a rifle that fires 30/30 or 7.62x39mm or even thinks my guns look fun to shoot and want to throw in on some ammo, let me know. if i have to order it to the hotel for that day, i'll probably either buy 500 or 1000 rounds. let the fun begin :DLeave a comment:
