Well if THATS the only thing stopping me from monkey bulter-ism, then I guess this is me putting up to be an alternate, and I will see you when one of the four turns up with a hangover. ^.^

Just kidding, I know they'll all show. I can tell by the year they signed up for dc forums that they take their stuff seriously. However if something should unexpectedly turn up, as it sometimes does, you'll know where to find me.

I suggest having a "water station" with supplies on it near the show rooms set it up with pitchers full of ice, and make sure you have plenty of those nice drinking glasses on there. However, make sure its out of public reach, because thirsty con-goers will be your worst enemy if they see it. Hotel staff will usually accommodate you and set one up in service or back areas if you ask nicely...just make sure you ask far enough in advance and make sure its restocked well before you run out of glasses as it can sometimes be slow to get them to do what you need them to.

And dont worry, I know better than to try and apply to be a helper. I know Im on auto reject. ~.^
Actually Faye, you are not on auto-reject. However, you cannot apply to butle at DC101 because if you note HighWiz's post, the one right before yours, he stated that the MB application process is closed. Thank you for your interest though, and welcome back to the forums.

    Regards,

AEnder, thank you for volunteering. You don't yet meet the requirements for DC101. If you want some volunteering experience and want to have some fun and can drive a soldering iron, come and help me build an Enigma-E device. You can PM me if you are interested.
You can apply next year for DC101 if you are interested.

    Re: Call for Monkey Butlers

We may need standby or alternate Monkey Butlers. The best of plans go awry and if said MB cannot make it to Defcon for some reason, whether it be work, a late plane, or too sober to attend, when we need the MBs we need them now! So a standby may not be a bad idea.

The task of Monkey Butlering must combine the best parts of eagerness to please and knowledge. If you know it all but don't care, please do not apply. If you are an eager beaver (or an eager monkey I should say) but you have trouble figuring out what we mean in a given task, then maybe your energy ought to be put to use elsewhere. This is not a slight on anyone at all. I suppose to put this into military terms, a Monkey Butler would be an E-2 or E-3.

And yes, the Monkey Butler title has been used and abused before, and it is only as good as those who wear it proudly. Definitely one for the resume, unless of course you are currently a piano player in a whorehouse.

It sucks I didn't know about this earlier. Even though I don't qualify (this being my first DC), I still would love to help. I guess there's always next year.

    Requirements to Participate:

*Must have attended at least One (1) DefCon

    Yes 2; 15, & 16

*Must not have been thrown out of any DefCons attended

    Not yet. :-)

*Must pass HighWiz's sniff test (that means take a shower, yo?)

I'm told I smell nice, especially at a public gathering like a con, it's called cologne.

    *A sense of humor

Subjective, but I like to think so. The important part of having a sense of humor is to be able to laugh at ones self.

*Able to take direction and follow through on said directions

    Mission oriented.
