So the good news is I now have the permit for the park and I have a newer larger section of the park with more parking, shade, and a playground!

And the latest headline: "Drunken hackers take over playground..."
Is that the bad news? I really don't see how that is bad news. :-)

Did we make sure that events like the TBBQ and other Thursday events are playing nice as far as scheduling goes?

DEFCON Shoot starts as early as we can rally, open the range around 08:00, outta there absolutely by 12:00. (preferably back at hotel by then)

DC101 runs from 13:00 to 15:00

I make the final announcement and set the teams off running for Titanium Chef at 15:00 sharpish

early arrivals to the park (Titanium Chef teams and the early fans) get there to witness contest cooking from 16:30 to 17:30. final plating and judgement at 17:30, with all grills free at that point for TBBQ proper to begin.

TBBQ runs until ??? (usually i recall things winding down by 20:00 or so, right?)

<something> happening Thursday evening (possibly Forum Meet, possibly other... top of riv?) at a later time... are we considering 21:00 or 22:00 ?

that's my understanding of Thursday thus far.

Park "closes" at sunset, yes? So the framed end-time for the TBBQ would likely be around then.

July 30, 2009: Sunset is at 7:47 PM (Pretty close to 20:00)

Of course with all the trees and any distant buildings, sunset may *appear* to be earlier.

Then there is cleanup, unless it is done before sunset, and finally the ~30 minute ride back to the Riv. People can of course leave earlier than that, as many have done so in the past.

I am also planning the ever present Hooch Wars. However considering just asking folks to bring their hooch and open it up for the public to consume and vote. I still have this nagging fear that someone is going to die of Alcohol poisoning drinking to much of what is brought (hence the end of the contest of HoochWars at Defcon TBBQ 14/15 of last person standing.

It seems the iron gut of some participants made last years change not as effective, as everyone drank what was given without significant problems..when it was changed to mystery hooch. (I felt sure someone would hurl with the combo of peppers, oreos, milk, tequila, mustard, vodka and other such in a shot..but no.)

So expect more Hooch for the masses and less attempts at public spew, falling down and self-destruction.

Excellent, looking forward to this... Had a great time at the last TBBQ and the Hooch Wars was a blast. Being one of the last ones standing was great except I don't remember much after sitting down on a picnic table and having someone's dog walking around me... somehow got back to Caesar's...

Edit: Hope the bugspray is there this year again, that stuff was great... I'll happily contribute to the ingredients...

Correct the BBQ proper runs from about 16:00 to 20:00 ussually when we run out of daylight.

time is coming sooner and sooner, but we still (at least as far as i know) haven't seen a definitive map posted here showing exactly where in the park the new space is.

i'd vote for as many clarifying options as possible... simple park diagram map, Google Map with GPS coordinates, etc etc.

this is of particular concern to me since my Titanium Chef teams are often among the first arrivals and if they wind up in the wrong place it can cause lots and lots more people to also show up where they shouldn't be.

BBQ website was updated with a new photo gallery and map of the new location about 4 weeks ago... www.toxicbbq.com

Ok, google directions map is updated now as well..
If anyone has suggestions for places to add to the supplies map, send them over.. I just put the most common places I know people have gone before.

I would be happy to volunteer as a cook for this, or is that too late?

I'll be landing in Vegas probably around 10 am or so..no car or food or anything, but I can schlep the grills if needed.
