      Lock Boards

I'm almost positive we've had a lock board at the con for the past few years. Not totally sure who brings it.... but it never hurts to have more than one. haha

Aren't there enough locks around the hotel?

Scary, would be neat for someone to give a breakout on the mag-stripe locks on a "random" room... ;) ... or have a walking breakout-trip testing whichever locks they come across... :) Of course everyone takes turns ;)

I don't know how kindly such a walking break-out session would be received by non-goon security. I haven't put my board together yet, but I am certainly planning on it. The only issue is how much to spend on locks, and how much to spend on tequila.

Yeah here is pretty much a typical scenario of what would happen:

Security notices a bulk of people with everyone hunched over and one person with nervous eyes looking all around... puts the donut in the fanny pack and approaches group...

Group: Ok and here we have a 6 pin... <look out person hoots like an owl>.... <everyone starts doing mime(not MIME) tricks>

Security:What are you guys doing? <calling backup while waiting for answer from group>

Group: Um, we are thespians and practicing for a play we are going to put on at the con later today... <snickers and giggles come from group>

Security: What is a thespian? Is this some kind of group orgy thing? We had problems a few years ago... Who is the leader of this group...

              <more security approaches group>

Group Leader: Yeah, heya... what's that over there?.. <pointing to the approaching group>... <security guy turns around>... everyone runs away...

I'll definately be hunting down the lockboards out there. Haven't had a chance to read the "Formerly..." doc yet, but have it, and will before I go
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Bring a chastity belt lock, I definitely gotta know how those work.

It would be cool to see the lock board again, like two years ago at defcon I was pickin the locks on the board and some japanese magizine interviewed me about pickin locks I thought it was funny.

Remember, kids..this is the same con that also hosts a 'DC Shoot'..testing your hack out on a 'random' door might result in someone exercising their 2nd ammendment rights..that and hotel security would probably have a shit..now, if theres someone who works with this kind of stuff, I'd love to see a mag stripe lock up on the lockboard .. as far as the previous lock-board-bringers go, vi5us and Gurney Halleck have brought them in the past and given some good lectures too. I'll bring my set out with me. I have a box of random locks (pad locks, old house locks, even a few Yale locks) I'll bring to donate to the cause..

I return whatever i wish . Its called FREEDOWM OF RANDOMNESS IN A HECK . CLUSTERED DEFEATED CORn FORUM . Welcome to me

                        Good Point

                        1. If defcon is supposed to be wepon free, where do the defcon shooters store their weapons?
                        2. I suspect that at least some of them would be hesitant to hand over all that (expensive) firepower to a teenager behind the desk in order to have them put it "in the safe".
                        3. How do I fit a rifle in one of those little safe deposit boxes?

                          a) Define 'weapon-free'

                          b) Probably in their room or vehicle

Absolutely. Expensive or otherwise, I do not want a person I neither know nor trust handling my firearms.

Break it down and case it.

That's right folks at any given moment anyone can run a few hundred feet and shoot up the place...

Advice 1: If you hear something that sound like gunfire, duck. The next sound you will probably hear is all the velcro fanny packs ripping open for counter-fire.

Advice 2: If you hear a zipping sounds, you may want to reposition.

I do in fact have a magstripe reader around here somewhere. I have no idea what capabilities it has, but I hope to have some time to play around with it before the con.
