hey hey...
so here we are less than two weeks away from yet another awesome DEFCON Shoot. we've got nearly 30 "definite" participants and practically another dozen "maybe" participants.
however, as far as vehicles are concerned we've only got about a baker's dozen seemingly planned for. now while that might work in theory if folk are prepared to get friendly and trustworthy really quickly at 07:00 at the Riv thursday morning, a bit more planning on that front wouldn't go amiss.
NOTE - the organizers of the DC Shoot (that is to say, me) will NOT be providing transportation options in any official sense whatsoever. you are NOT guaranteed a ride out to the Lovell Canyon site just by merely showing up in the lobby that morning.
it's way too far for a cab to be sensible, and while there's a Hertz rental car desk at the Riv, i don't know how easily one could get a car that morning or if they do one-day rentals without raping you in the asshole on price.
the point is... consider your options now. look over the official participants roster and see who appears to have a ride open. poke them with a PM and ask if you can have a seat if you're in need. (don't forget to discuss what equipment you'll be carrying... it does little good if you are sharing a spot in someone's BMW M3 and you're carrying an M240 Bravo and crates of ammo plus boxes of targets, food, water, etc.)
also, if you already have a ride but this is not reflected on my main list, please PM me so i can stop worrying about you. it gives me great joy to see the check marks fill up on planning lists... so let me know if you have a ride or if you work a ride out with someone else.
PMs are great, but posting here in this thread makes even more sense... since it may take me a day to update the list but others will see your changes in status right here in realtime if you post.
have at it! i'll see you all very soon!
