You might be able to walk to the nearest harras casino and get a ride to the rio for less than the cost of a cab. See post from BBox:

Yes that is correct. That is what I did when I was there recently and wanted to check out the Rio. When I was there during the week the hotel bus ran on the hour and half hour. I was told on the weekend and busy times its every 15 min.

The website shows they have 10 properties in Vegas (see link below for list) so it should not be a problem to get around on the cheap using the hotel transportation between properties.

A quick check shows that the nearest Harra's property to New York, New York (NYNY) in Las Vegas is "Westgate at Planet Hollywood" which google maps claims is 0.8 miles walking distance from NYNY. This is compared to 1.8 miles from NYNY to the Rio. If you have been to Las Vegas, you know that 0.8 miles outside in the heat is not fun, but between heat and cab fare, it might be worth it to you. Also, walking on the strip has an advantage with some stores along the way to get some Air Conditioning, water, or cool off.

Those rates are assrape. I am there for 6 nights and pay less than you pay for ONE night.

Has anyone made reservations that cost more per-day than what is shown above? If so, do you care to say how much? Also, were the the same "standard" suites that were offered at the Defcon Rate, or larger/nicer rooms?

I am booked to check in Thursday, check out Monday.
$1670 total.

Outrageous price, but a price I am prepared to pay to be on site.
They are gouging pretty heavily. I think my final night was only $59.
Not sure what room I am in, would have to go back and check my paperwork.

Yeah, luckily they will be covering the majority of my expenses.
