    I can get bowling pins for cheep/free depending on what bowling alley I stop by. These make great targets that can be used multiple times for most rounds.

      Oreo cookies are the best targets. They are very dark and can be seen against any foliage or background, they are very very inexpensive, they are biodegradable, and they attract animals which may be targets themselves!

        Oreo cookies are the best target for my face. All other considerations are secondary.

          No, but just as bad, if not worse, I will say: super-chocolaty chocolate milk is tactical milk.

          Good to see planning on this working out so well. I'll probably bring 2 people out with me to this shoot this year to see the fun. One is not legally allowed to transport firearms out of his country and into this one unless his travel destination includes an international shooting competition. Because we are not bringing any weapons, we won't be renting a table.

            We're not an international shooting competition? Now I'm sad.

              That sucks, I'm planning on setting up a Competition Shoot at the even pending support from everyone. I will be building the targets for everyone to shoot at. It's free for everyone, you only will need to bring your gun, ammo and gear. I may bring one of my 22lr pistols with a basic holster and ammo for it. However I am picky about the ammo in my guns so you would have to buy the ammo from me for the event. I'm not interested in making money so I'll probably just ask for 2-3 bucks for the ammo each event (I'm planning on 2 challenges 1 each day). Which I think is reasonable, right? If it all works out your friends can join in on the Competition with one of my guns or if they can borrow someone else's.

                "First Aid Kit"
                12 years as a navy corpsman, most of that time in the field or a L3 trauma center. You don't want a first aid kit, a headache or scraped knee is not going to be a concern. You need a "Blow Out Kit"
                ===
                You need to be prepared to treat 1 type of injury, a penetrating gunshot wound.
                In extremities, treat arterial hemorrhage.
                In the neck or face, you may have to provide an "alternative" airway.
                In the chest, you should know how to treat a sucking chest wound (as if all chest wounds dont suck...)(sorry, battlefield medic humor...)
                In all cases you will need to treat for shock.
                ===
                Each individual should carry their own, so the first responder doesn't have to use his own to treat the victim.
                Here's everything you need, that fits in a small front/thigh pocket :
                LeoMedicus TRIK kit - http://store.medicaltactics.com/prod...ntion-kit-trik
                Supplement that with:
                QuikClot sport http://www.quikclot.com/home.aspx
                ===
                Lastly for a deeper dive into it, a site somebody already mentioned

                  Re: First aid, the only thing I'd add to that is that a flexible splint wrap would be useful, considering that transporting a broken bone over that bumpy road without a good splint would be pretty terrible.

                    both ordered. both will be there. thanks for the good suggestion and the links.

                    (i think that all that and more was present in the past, too, from lots of the well-supplied people who are around with us all the time. but it's a good policy for there to be an official DC Shoot kit, just as a matter of routine)

                      I'm going to be bringing an ITS Tactical ETA kit and a SOFTT-W tourniquet. I was going to take a defensive medicine course on the use of these supplies last weekend, but unfortunately the class was cancel from lack of sign ups. Hopefully we will have some trained people there in case of any emergencies.

                        When contained in a gallon ziplock, it is complete and self contained. The bag provides material to seal sucking chest wounds. Good choices, and relatively cost efficient. Not as cheap as buying the individual parts from a medical supply store, but the packaging is worth it.

                          Kawataro, you should try some Celox powder sometime. It's chitosan based, not zeolite mineral based like quikclot is. I hear it's the new hotness in some parts of the military as well. I'm sure quikclot will eventually come out with their own chitosan based product

                            Just in case anyone was looking for some pins or bouncing targets, Woot has them on sale for a pretty decent price.

                                My two cents:
                                I really appreciated the water last year. I brought sunscreen for myself and anyone who wanted it, and think community spray sunblock would be great also.

                                I personally do not ever like shooting metal targets, especially thick metal due to ricochet possibilities.

                                Bowling pins sounds bad ass.

                                I love shooting the random trash that seemed to be there last year way more than shooting targets. So I vote more random crap to shoot. Anyone god some old desktops?

                                And I will eat the crap out of Oreos :)
