Aside from the mocking of course :-P The sheer fact that it deals with computers, maybe the fact that the whole movie revolves AROUND computers, I can't really name any other movies that do. Wargames, sure, but that's hella old, at least Hackers is SEMI up to date, what with the having 28.8Kbps modems and all :-)

If you want to see a real side splitter check out Cybertraque the French Miramax DVD (non us region coding of course), it was played at one of the DC movie nights. It is a little more entertaining than the movie hackers... but of course it was a POS.

Hackers does NOT revolve around computers. It revolves around getting into Angelina Jolie's pants. It just happens to have a computer theme. But... Angelina Jolie... Unf unf unf... it is forgiven. ;-)

For realism, though... gotta go with Sneakers.

Now, take a movie like Sneakers, and throw in a love interest with Angelina Jolie... be sure to include lots of breast shots. Now THAT is a movie I'd go for!!!!

One that really disappointed me was Antitrust. They went way overboard with the conspiracy theory stuff.
