  • Jinx wear...

i don't know about you, but i thaught the official dcx shirts were a little bland. anyone agree?
unless i didn't see the right dcx shirt. the one i saw had 2 big dudes in their underwear hugging. was that it? i like jinx stuff but....... that wasnt for me.

did anyone see any bootlegged dcx shirts?
    were they any good?
if so, than did chris find them and castrate them?
when he did, what did he do with the shirts, and can i have one?

what design would you want to see at dcXI?
put me down for a pic of vanna and the dc midget "together" shirt.

I don't know if there was necessarily an official dc shirt. If there was, it would have been the one at grifter's table. Then jinx dc shirt with the fucked up logo on the back was kinda weird... not to mention that it pegged the con as a security-type conference (for those touchy about the sell-out aura). I did get it anyways, along with the homeland security shirt, which was the jinx shirt I liked most.

<note to all vendors reading the boards> _Do Not_ make really cool tshirts and only make them in XL or smaller. Go at least XXL. Most of the vendors were good, but one in specific had some great shirts that I simply could not purchase and be able to wear.
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Jinx sells the DefCon shirts that are as close to an "official" shirt as you can get. There were several this year including the sumo wrestlers shirt you are referring to. Grifter does his own shirts which are always some of the best for sale at Con.

I didn't have to lay the smack down on anyone this year :D and wouldn't have. You can sell a DefCon tshirt of your own design, that isn't a problem. What we strive to avoid are folks who set up in the hall and start selling shit without getting a vendor table. That is NOT because we want the money, rather, it is because when people are at Con they assume the stuff they buy is "sanctioned" by DefCon. A good example of this is c0nv3r9's comments above about Grifter's shirts being the official ones. They are shirts that Grifter designed and had every right to sell because he purchased space in the vendor area, but they are no more official than the shirts Ninja Networks or Legacy Systems or any of the other vendors were selling.

Furthermore, I have the contact info for all of the official vendors and if someone has a post con problem with a purchase they can contact Russ or I and we can put them in touch with the vendor they purchased an item from so that a resolution to the problem can be found. If any jack ass with a 3 pack of Hanes and a magic marker is out there selling crap, the attendee has no recourse because we can't put them in touch with the seller.

i think that if there is a sanctioned official dc slogan, than there should be an official dc shirt. or if not, they should at least reveal the winning slogan early so it could be put on an official dc shirt.

Actually, that has been done in the past. At DC8 the winning slogan was on a shirt. This year we went a different direction because of the nature of the prize. The awarding of the black badge for the slogan winner was the first time the black badge had been seen by anyone other than DefCon staff.

Next year my goal with the slogan contest is to end it a month or so out and then have the winning slogan on the program including the winner's name and stuff. I say that is my goal because that is what I would LIKE to do. What I want and what ends up happening aren't always the same thing.

Since my ideas are better than everyone else's ;) you would think they would carry more wieght...but DefCon planning is a group effort and I don't always get my way. Hell...I ran the slogan contest and my choice for slogan wasn't the winner. In fact my choice wasn't even second.

              There was only one winner:

Failure is not an option. It comes bundled with the software.

There was one booth....can't recall which one, but they had it so you were able to submit an idea and if they liked it then it would end up on a shirt, I tink it was the vendor across from the other vendor....right next to that one place I put that thing one time...Yeah, now I remember, it was definatly there.:D

The booth with Vanna T-shirts was Legacy Systems. I will get their contact info for you if you want when I get home today. You should be able to order one still.

I have the list of 10 as well, at home. I will post it this evening.

That place with iron-ons, did they do any business? I don't recall seeing anyone buying at that table.

I was one of the several people that mentioned to them that they should have brought black shirts to iron on.... I would have bought at least 2 VV shirts in a second had they not been white shirts... they said that next year they should have black shirts available. :)
