What a piece of work... this guy tries to show an across-the-board improvement over previous generations, then goes on to say he doesn't really know just what the intellectual quotient means, and tries to throw in some bunk philosophy to make those readers not so "astute" feel better about themselves.
I agree that present generations enjoy knowledge of things that past generations could not, but these present generations also lack knowledge in other much more practical areas.
I agree that video games _can_ help improve the ability to think logically, spatially... To make a blanket "study" about a change that may or may not exist, with so many differences between generational cases, and to point to electronics as _the_ cause is just folly. It sounds like those who did the study may have done so for a freshman year class project.
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Just got an XboX.. and let me tell you if you like little hot redheads that are 0.5 vampires with a nice set of tools... check it out :) http://www.bloodrayne.com/
I love my videogames, my XboX is always playing Halo:D Video games get a bad wrap from alot of press and parents, which is sad to me cause I wanna play grand theft auto and not be told it is warping my mind. Violent video games for me are a way to release stress, if your mad and you want to destroy things there is nutin like destroying a city to releave you of that stress.

Yeah earlier I popped in one of the games that came with the bundle: Jet Set Radio Future and had to read a 5 minutes display that graffiti is art, but not condoned ... though the game is all about inline skating around the city whilst spray painting the walls to drive out the 'bad' guys.. :/

Its like winders, anytime you want new "features" you gotta blow 150 bucks for an upgraded OS, most the time the new one is worse then the older one. I hate how microsoft is owning the entire electronics industry, the have the OS in the bag, and now they got the console gaming under control not to mention the microsoft WiFi stuff I am sure some will say "they make the OS so the wireless stuff must be compatible". what will be next on mircosofts list? I am guessing toliet paper but I might be wrong.

Ahh yes, the DVD kit is a must. Mem cards are kinda overkill unless you mod your system out and use the hd for other stuff. I did buy one of those small controllers, but didn't like it and don't use it. I LOVE the stock XBox controllers... could never stand the Playstation controllers. Then again, I have big hands
