Hmmm... I wonder if midgets can fit inside... the real doll suit will be like a battle mech. Except this is a battle of lust!

PS. don't forget the real dolls start to melt if under constant sunlight for an extended period of time, you don't want your meat puppet melting..

It just doesn't feel right without the gun, which was the reason that that game was so wonderful. It was just so intuitive and simple and yet so engaging that it kept me busy for a good portion of my childhood, as it did for a ton of other kids.

I wonder how much NES runs for now at the local game store. Last time i checked it was around $40, but that was two years ago.

You'd think that after 15 rounds they'd make the ducks harder to hit. I got my score up to 200,000 before I got bored and let them all go.

In the original game you had to hot the duck right on to score. Or.... you had to miss the TV completely.

This was one of my first discovered "hacks" that if you shot at a wall, yourself, a real duck, that is - anything besides the blue sky background on the tv, it counted as a kill. Sorta took the fun out of it then, like finding out that the "PONG" ball followed a set pattern.

Around here they have a place where the games are all nickles instead of quarters. A $2 admission is required and after that, all new games are nickles, while any game made before probably 1996 is free play. My friend and I had a blast beating "The Punisher" in...about 15 minutes While they don't have Duck Hunt, they do have some good ones from at least my childhood like Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and X-Men.

I found that out recently while playing at my neighbors house. Even after having figured it out, I continued shooting at the screen. It just sucked all the 'Huzzah' out of playing the game. Then, thinking back to my childhood I wonder how horrible my aim might have been, but I felt awesome anyway for killing all of those damn ducks.

How come, when people mention 'video games' people immediatly think about console?

Xbox is begining to evolve into a computer. It has a modem, hard drive, OS...next thing you know it will have 'Windows X-B' and a keyboard(do they have that yet?). Same with PS3.

It simply proves one fact to me: Computers are a much better gaming platform than consoles. If you go and purchase a controller for the specific game you play(HOTAS, Joy, Normal Game Controller....etc) then you get much better graphics than any console can offer, plus the ability to use the same controllers(and more) that the consoles offer.

                          Nuff said.

Consoles are computers. You mention the X-Box but it was certainly not the first platform to include networking, keyboard, external storage ... even direct output to VGA has been an option. The platforms, however, have been standardized in a way that increases the user experience (while, admittedly, limiting user functionality).

I would not say that general computers are a much better gaming platform despite all the technical advantages they offer. Gaming consoles offer a faster, smoother, guaranteed route to playing games ... but they aren't a direct replacement (and cannot be by their very nature).

Microsoft has recognized the weaknesses of consoles and taken great strides in the X-Box 360 with their unified networking system (e.g., high scores, friend lists, voice chat) and storefront for demoing and downloading games. Sure, as a geek you want choice, distributed systems, and the ability to use your technical knowledge to give you an in-game advantage. As a gamer, though, you probably want ease-of-use and a focus on playing games (as opposed to playing with the system).

that's right... my first ever console was the original 8-bit Nintendo Entertainment System. that mother had a whopping 1.8 MHz Ricoh processor.

I don't feel cool when I go there. I'm tired of seeing John Mayer's face pop up. I feel like I'm being hustled when I visit there, and I don't think their product is that great. DRM, low bit rate, etc... OiNK it existed because it filled a void of what people want."

Well an Abacus is a computer too....
