I guess we can do a panty raid instead, but if 6000 guys signed up I'd feel bad for the 14 girls who show up at the con!

First, it is a paintball marker, not a gun ;) ... Second, if you plan to play more than one time in your life, it is cheaper to buy your own marker, and you can enjoy the game.... the rental markers that they do have available are junked pieces of shit that you end up wasting paint and the whole day using because something is cracked, isn't sealed, or keeps misfiring... if you have jack you generally spend up spending 100+ dollars on renting crap and time... if you have your stuff you just pay the park fees, and of course your paint which you can generally split a case over with someone...

If you are looking for suggestions on what to buy your basic spyder/piranha modles are fine, tippman's are nice... but your high end makers like the autocockers, automags, and angels are really nice but with mods basically make you a walking paint hose... start with one of the cheaper models, mod it up, join a few pb forums and off you go.

I always wanted a full auto paint gu-, er, I mean marker. The MAC-10 version is nice. Can the paintballs travel faster than my neighbor's cat?

They travel pretty damned fast, most outdoor fields allow a maximum of 300fps (feet per second), but you can clock it up quite a bit when playing around... unfortunately if you take it up too high your balls start to burst in your barrel... and once the inside of your barrel gets full of this wet cruft, your balls lose control and start to have fun with physics.

As to whether or not the ball is faster than the cat's fu... well we won't incriminate ourselves by saying anything out of proof, but we can say that when you see a paintball coming at you it looks like it is coming in slow enough to move out of the way... but by the time your body registers it you are already hit... very matrix-like.

You can get even more distance if you purchase a longer barrel. I bought my dad a Tippman A-5 for his a birthday and a flatline barrel (longest range barrel on the market). The distance on this marker is amazing with this barrel. The only thing that sucks nuts about Tippman's is the fact that you can only buy Tippman parts for them. But then again I would have to say its worth it. I play with a Spyder Imagine, its electric and has a full auto, 3-burst, and sem-auto firing modes. The full-auto and 3-burst are nice but not to usefull. I would go with spyder over piranha though, I have had bad experiences with piranha markers. Oh yeah what ever you do dont buy a pump marker.

I love my pirahna, and was in a few piranha user groups for a while... I never had any of the seal problems that some people were having... I modified it with a dye ported barrel, better handgrips, and a few other things that i don't recall at the top of my head... I have a few pics around somewhere I will have to find them... :)

Post those pics when you find them I would love to see them. I have had problems with piranha's breaking easily and that same seal problem, they were not my piranha markers so I dont know what kind of care went into them. Those Tippmans are solid though and you can get some pretty cool mods for them. a local store in Gresham, OR has some cool Tippman's moded. They had an A-5 with a flatline barrel, a side front grip, a detractable stock, a sight, and a stand so you could snipe it was pretty fucking cool.

What about all the markers on Ebay? Do you think they have issues to be sold there?

I would stay away from purchasing markers on ebay. You never know if you will end up with some shit marker that doesnt work right or is missing parts. If you are buying from an ebay store just be carefull. I would just head to your local PB store and purchase there or order out of a magazine.

Here in SoCal there is a paintball store almost every few miles... You definately want to go in and handle it before picking one up... also you are going to need to make pals with the sales guy so you can get a good deal on paint... spending 80 a box isn't fun when you are going every weekend, and end up using more than one box... I would always stick with the medium priced paint myself... I still have a few boxes in fact, they haven't been touched in a while.. hmmm...

Yeah I'll post the pics, I have quite a few pics of my marker, and then some more while we are a playing a few games, and some of my pimp sniper outfits I have made and used... depending on the field I will play offensive or defensenive when doing ctf.

I want to shoo away pesky squirrels. The real kind, not the Kelvin kind! I was going to get a high power pellet gun but I wonder if I can get a marker instead..at least that way I can tell if it's the same little guy that comes back later!

no dude, you want a pellet gun for that... you are going to get paint everywhere... and it is pointless on an animal... it isn't oil based paint anymore, it is all water based, environment friendly, biodegradable materials that the entire paintball is comprised of... hell you can basically rub the paint off....

For squirells get an airsoft gun. They shoot little plastic pellets. They are pretty cool. But yeah like BW said you always want to hold the marker before you buy it because weight is a big deal depending on how you want to play. If you plan on sniping most of the time a heavy marker and a long barrel will do you good but if you want to assault you better buy a 20oz CO2 tank, a waist pack, some tubes to hold rounds, and a remote, just so you have alot of rounds, air, and mobility. With sniping its good to have alot of rounds but you most likely wont be firing alot if your good. When I get home I will take some pics of my Spyder and my dads Tippman and post them BW.
