Speaker Goons

As long as we're giving props where props are due, my god did the Speaker Goons 0wn. I'm serious:

• What? Your DNS server's down? Sure, I'll set you up with all the hosting you need on an emergency basis.
• Video not working? AV Guy, Here, NOW.
• Looking for someone to carry a wireless mike around? Not a problem -- just tell us where to go.
• Need wired net? Already there.

Dell kept fucking up fixing my laptop, meanwhile the speaker goons provided the slickest, cleanest, most extensive support I've ever seen.

W00t. Looking forward to next year's TCP/IP Black Ops with these guys :-)

More thanx for the speaker goons

I'd also like to thank the speaker Goons for helping out during my presentation and for helping the speakers in general. I can't remember his handle, I know it had "23" in it (was it Op23?), and he was great.

Overall, having the speaker Goons is a fantastic idea. I have spoken at many, many conferences, but I still remember my first time (not a DEFCON conference). As soon as I was scheduled to speak, I was approached by the sound guy, the video guy, the tech guy and all these other folks asking me a hundred questions, which only added to my own nervousness. So, since DEFCON does have its share of new speakers, having the Goon there can be a good thing if just to have a central contact for any issues that arise. Now that I'm an "old hand" at this, I like to show up right before my talk, so just having the Goon to at least escort me to the speaking area (without me having to consult a map and dealing with crowds) is a fantastic benefit.

I'd like to thank TW for doing such a kick ass job organizing registration. In the three years we've been in "reg hell" together, this year was by far the best -- mostly (completely is more like it) due to his planning and preparation. I know he busted his ass and it payed off and made both our lives a hell of a lot easier this year.

Also: Everyone involved -- for making this the best DC I've been to yet.

Now these folks don't read the forums, but I'd like to thank them publicly anyway:

Kev & Mel: Thanks for all the great help. Hope you guys can make it out next year!
