Dues Ex Machina? Try Wizard of Oz. Yet another rip off scene in a movie full of rip offs.

Did anyone pick up on the symbolism of the nightclub/dante’s hell? What about the symbolism of neo’s blindness. And Judas?
There was a lot of christ references, then again, he's their messiah. As was pointed out, a lot of Dune references as well, when Paul was blinded and could still see.

The nightclub looked like most the ones I go to. Humorously enough, I knew several people in the shot. They did a casting call for that back in '99/00 here in the bay area when they were filming the freeway scene.

That's the name that appears in the credits for that voice, so you are absolutely correct.

still not sure if the so called real world is really outside of the matrix.

              SPOILER or 2 AHEAD

              This movie is pretty polarizing.

The boss and I went to see it the night it came out. While Trinity was croaking, I'm sitting there whispering, "DIE ALREADY" while my boss is sitting 2 seats away and I SWEAR, I can hear him siffling.

We walk out and he's jumping up and down saying, "FUCK the critics, that was awesome" and I'm mumbling "what the fuck just happened?" like I was on the receiving end of some serious head trauma.

On the plus side, Hugo Weaving is the only reason I didn't barf on my shoes during either sequel. Agent Smith is quite possibly a better evil/badguy/antagonist character than even Darth Vader. Simply the badest badass ever.

I can't even fathom either of the two as sequels. To me they are movies based on the original that happen to use most of the same actors from the original. I only saw Reloaded once and will never see Revolutions again. There was so much crap that could have been cut and both movies could have been trimmed down into one watchable one.

There was one other thing I felt was lacking, why dont the humans live underwater, i mean, machines wouldnt be as keen to go down into the water, i would guess, plus an emp in water would be fun ;) Just a thought, instead of them living in caves.

i saw it. i thought that it was a great movie. i think if they do come out with a 4th one they will screw up the matrix all together.

I'm half and half on the movie, it was good but it still sucked but hey what are you going to do. I'm hoping that they lead of with a couple more of the animatrix movies those were pretty good. Only time will tell.

Saw it last night, and had exactly the same thought. Most of anything else I could add has already been said in this thread, but there are a couple of things that warrant mention (and I agree, this was a very polarising movie - I didn't like it, but more because I felt it didn't fit in with the other two very well, not because I think it's a bad movie).

It's very derivative in places of other sci-fi flicks. Bladerunner, Terminator, Star Wars, Aliens... Pick a well-known movie from the same genre in the last 25 years and it's in there.

The underlying 'both-sides-of-the-equation' horseshit got old real fast. Hell, even the Oracle wears yin-yang earrings. We know there's good-against-evil shit going on, and that they can't exist without each other. Please stop reminding us.

I actually liked the way they explored some of the metaphysical aspects of the Matrix in the first film as well as some of the religious parallels that they drew to it. However, the implied one-world hippie-shit grand unified theory of 'we're all the same underneath' that they ultimately chose to end the story on just didn't work.

It was a diasappointment. More so because I saw it in Imax, so got gouged an extra six bucks for the priviliege.
