Room Rates

For those not on the ShmooCon Announcement list, this was sent by them earlier today:

For ShmooCon 2005, we have negotiated a discounted group rate at the
Wardman Park Marriott, for Friday and Saturday night of the
conference.

The group rate is $150 per night, excluding wacky taxes, which is a
significant discount from the normal rate, and quite a deal for the
area even. We're pleased with that, and we have had 100 rooms per
night set aside for ShmooCon attendees. Leave a few for the Shmoo,
ok?

For now, to reserve your room and obtain the group rate, you MUST call
the Wardman Park Marriott, at 1-800-228-9290, and inform them you are
with "SHMOOCON".

For more info on the Wardman Park Marriott, remember, you can visit
their website at: http://www.wardmanpark.com

We hope to have an online group code that can be used, but for now,
reservations by phone are the way to go. We've had enough people
inquire about the reservation process that we felt it best to get info
out to you sooner rather than later.

Got the con rate of $150 for Friday/Sat night, but I booked a couple days on each side because I don't know which days I'll be arriving and departing. The other nights are $200/night

Keep in mind that I have to convert CAN $ so it hurts even more.

Basic room, huge bed, nothing fancy.

It'll be interesting to see what the exchange rate will be closer to the date. Your room rate actually fluctuates daily, that can suck.

Easier to Use a Credit Card. Lots of my dads family live in Skagway Alaska so whenever they travel to Whitehorse (biggest canadian city close to Alaska) they use Credit Cards that way the exchange rate works in your favor by giving you to the .000 cent or better.

Yeah, it's all on CC, but it all depends on what the exchange rate is on the day it's processed (in FEB), alot can happen between then and now.

Fortunatly I've usually got a lot of time on my hands so I keep an eye on the Can $ and with the stupidly high value against American right now (~$0.80 US), I think I'll just get some cash changed now where I know it's value. It's unlikely I'll see such good rates after the election down there.

Of course donations are accepted if you take pity on me and my countries monopoly money :)

heh, it's nice living about 45 min from DC ... traffic isn't even really THAT bad. I prolly won't get a room for ShmooCon, but if someone wants to split one ... *leaves trailing thought open*

Ok.. it looks like your's truly will be trecking that way as well. I plan on getting there Thursday night, and flying out Sunday night. I have a place to stay Friday and Sat. night, but may require floorspace Thrusday night and possible transportation help.

Homebrew will be brought, although small amounts due to having to fly with it.

Actually, not sure about the airport I am flying into yet.. I have not gotten the ticket. That is on this week's agenda. I'll fill ya in on the details as soon as I know.
