It would be a drive from the Shmoocon, but Cafe Asia in Rosslyn on Wilson Blvd used to have a good sushi happy hour (2 for 1).
I haven't been here but http://www.tonosushi.com/ is also close to the hotel on connecticut.

A cab ride shouldn't be too much... especially if it's split between numerous people.
