I was talking with Wiseacre and AlxRogan and we're thinking of setting up an Xbox Live/Xlink Kai, system post Defcon so we can play with people we know instead of co-oping/fragging some random six year old.

So I'm curious if any of the other defcon forums regulars play?

Well, if I were able to make it to this one, hell yes, I'd be up for it!

Unfortunately, as I'm currently involved in an auto repair course (don't laugh, auto repair's good money!), I don't think I'm going to be able to make it this time around.

If it's done again after the next Defcon (and I can squeeze in the time to get out there), though, you can bet your ass I'll be down there, if only to provide some easy fragbait!

P.S. - CS: Source is also fun (at least for me, it is).
(We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming. Please, feel free to ignore this post if you so desire.)

      /me Shakes head

Don't even worry about ever trying to do it.

Incase anyone is confused, Mr. Macavity totally missed the point...

So any Defcon Forums regulars (yea, if you post count is under 50 I'm probably not talking to you), we'll probably set this up to play once a week or every so often when people can get on to play a game (maybe more?). It's just more fun playing with people you know as Co-op or Fragging them.

I might be down for getting my butt kicked on console every now and again. I rarely ever play, but it could be fun. Are you going official XBLive servers? iirc I would have to jump through some hoops to pull that off.
if it gets me nowhere, I'll go there proud; and I'm gonna go there free.

Right now I'm just getting a feel for who would be up for playing.. After we have a few people who are interested I'll talk logistics (whether Official Live or Xlink).

Heck, I have over 50 posts, and I'm not sure I fall into the category of "regulars". Maybe if I actually attend the Forum meet this year (damn scheduling conflicts )...

If I were to be invited, I might actually consider buying an XBox to join the weekly game. It might provide the motivation I need to get back into gaming...

              I'd consider you a regular.

Ah, well, I read "regular" as "someone who's been around Forum X on a regular basis since joining" (which I have, even though it's only been a couple days), not as "someone who has more than X amount of posts" (which I - quite obviously - do not).

For example, one could make fifty or a hundred posts in one day, but only come around here (or any other fora) sporadically. Is that a "regular" poster? Not in my opinion - but then again, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

                  You joined four days ago.

Your first post was a "hi, I'm new thread" (So you obviously didn't read the rules). Suprising for someone who reads the forums alot.

When we were discussing this we were talking about people we know who would be fun to play with... I don't know you from Adam.

I'd be up for it. I take it we'd be playing Halo or Counter Strike? I'm always up for getting my ass raped in those games so it just makes sense for Highwiz to be a part of it.

That would be the same for Medic and myself.

I have not tried out the Xlink Kai thing yet, but it looks really promising. Once I get done with Con, I should have some time and we can play around with it.

First off, Wiz, why so hostile? I'll freely admit I made some mistakes (everyone does, from time to time), and I apologize if I inadvertantly offended you in some way - I am, as you well know, relatively new to this particular sector of the Net.

(Not to the Net or fora in general, mind you - but most of the ones I've been to don't have a 'no unintelligent hi threads' rule, just a 'no unintelligent threads' one, and frankly, I didn't think mine was that unintelligent. Obviously, I was mistaken - my apologies on that count as well.)

Second, have I run into you on some other forum, perhaps under a different name? I tend to use Macavity (or a variant thereon) for all the fora I visit, and there are people on other fora who often compare me to John Adams: obnoxious and disliked.

And third, I've often had more fun playing against people I don't know from Adam - either on the 'Net or off - than I've had playing against people I know (mainly because I'm familiar with the tactics used by the people I know well - new people present new challenges).

There are a few notable exceptions, though - like the one dummkopf who kept using the same path in one Red Faction II map, even though I'd waxed him six times from a position that had a very good view of that path . . . and I didn't know him from Adam, neither.

Sorry mate, I'd have to agree with Highwiz. Lurk a while longer, post some more. People will get to know and accept you if you can fit in (which does not, obviously, require any form of conformity). HW is well loved 'round here and one of his best traits is his 'hostility'.

HW, I'd be up for Xbox Live/Kai. Unfortunately with my mod I would only be available for Kai.

It was about 1 or 2 months before I saw mention by one person of "regular" when applied to me, and then 4 more months before the subject came up again-- and no, I did not ask, "am I a regular yet?"

As far as XBox games suggested online, that is a pretty cool idea. I like 3d FPS, but don't own an XBox, or have time to play most of the year.
