Oooooo! Do I have to have an Asus to come out and play, or can I just bring one of the XO's?

ADATA AD2667002GOS 2Gb works. It's basically the cheapest ram I could find that was compatible with my MacBook. Then I got the eee and threw it in that and put the 1Gb back in the MacBook.

No, but I found a nice neoprene sleeve on Amazon, as well as a silicon skin.

I'm finding for "quick network stuff" at clients' places the eeePC 701 is perfect:
                            • It cold boots almost as quickly as my full size laptop comes out of standby.
                            • The price is so cheap in comparison to the full size laptop that I'm not too worried about it getting damaged.
                            • Between Xandros' "Advanced Mode" (a real desktop), and Back|Track 3 on an SDHC card, I've got almost all the software tools I need for working at a client's place.
                            • It's lighter to haul around and the small size makes it easier to use in confined spaces like server rooms. The light weight is especially nice when you have to stand at a rack, plugged into a patch panel and hold the notebook.

One last note: Universally, women have looked at it and said something like "That is the cutest little thing. It's so tiny!" Those are not the word most guys like to hear from a woman. But in this context I guess it's OK.

For anyone who's interested, a few of us have started a eeePC Hacking mail list. If you want to join, send a subscribe message to eeehacker [AT] blackthornsystems [DOT] com . It's not overly active, but we've had some good tips get exchanged.

Maybe it's because I'm not like other women, but I think the first words to come out of my mouth about the eeePC were: "Sweet, what things can I get away with now?"

I dropped mine the other day from an "OMG I just killed my laptop height" and the thing could have cared less. That whole let kids play with them thing is true.

Someone said the Best Buy has them now.
