Are there any real reasons people don't don't like it other than it is self indulging? How about "I didn't think it stay on track" or "I couldn't follow it well"?

Crap moviesare crap movies, regardless of experience. Wanna see a good movie made with zero experience or budget? Go watch Clerks. Wanna be bored to the point of wetting your pants for three hours solid? Sit through Freedom Downtime, and no fair cheating by taking a nap.

Actually, you've made the assumption that these comments are somehow connected with attacking Emmanuel. Which is amusing, since that makes me wonder if you've actually seen it. As for shallow...

I saw it when it premiered at H2K. I mean, it wasn't a cinematic masterpiece, but I didn't think it was *that* bad. Of course, I was smoking a lot more back then... and I did throw a number of zingers during the course of the film.

Oh well. I don't see why it shouldn't be shown... no one has to necessarily watch it.

If he want to show it, he can do it online or release it on DVD/VHS already. If people want to see it that bad they can email him or fly to h2k2. BTW the movie is so 90's. Remember we are living in 2002. Bring out the next movie.

The point I was making is that we TRIED to show it. We really did want to screen it at Defcon, but since we couldn't accomodate Emmanuel 'Rockstar' Goldstein, he took off with the movie and we were unable to screen it.

Point taken. I have no desire to speak of his ego or ability/inability to "play along". If you can't get it, no huge loss. There are a lot of other good films out there (and a lot of bad ones that, while bad, are downright funny). One that would be a hoot is a documentary from the early 90s about "Hackers" that actually had William Gibson in it. I heard afterwards he regretted being associated with it because it was so lame. That one would be good for a few laughs, but I've just scoured google and IMDB and I can't come up with a title for the life of me.

DT's got one from Germany that I dont think has ever been shown in the states. I think we may air that at some point this year.

PAL is actualy slightly better quality. Since about a third of our staff is located in Europe, procuring PAL equipment isnt an issue..

Also, it is possible to get (read: buy or rent) VCRs that will do PAL playback on NTSC televisions. They're not as common here as they are in Europe (I bought my first direct-conversion NTSC -> PAL player about this time in 1995, and were everywhere when I was home at Christmas), but are available. Picture quality suffers, though, due to the compression from a 625-line scan down to 525 lines, and there can be some timing issues due to 50/60Hz differences (most notable in scrolling credits), but by and large they work pretty well.
