I would have rather seen a nice police chase with him in a Chevy Bronco.Leave a comment:

Re: Sarah Palin: hacked by Anonymous
He was wise to turn himself in. I expected this to be resolved quickly. What won't be is the "good Samaritan" issue which I think is clear cut regardless. The civil issues around this could be potentially much worse than the criminal.

"Kernell's father is longtime state Rep. Mike Kernell of Memphis, chairman of Tennessee's House Government Operations Committee. The lawmaker has said he had nothing to do with the hacking incident." <Yea right? Time for a MK probie me thinks. Rectal perhaps.
Ok politics aside, let's suppose daddy Kernell knew of his sons ability and had a direct line to the Obama HQ. Could this have meant tuition paid for junior, or perhaps a higher seat in government for daddy? This is NOT meant as a political rap,(could have happened from any side) only partial grounds to investigate Kernell Sr. further.
Humm... What was it I said? (and we can't rule out other political parties or anything else)
Nice follow up Streaker, thx.Last edited by Greyhatter; October 8, 2008, 10:41.Leave a comment:

Indictment has been handed down.I got sucked into that. Thorn you're a fab mod. The questions that remain are the investigaton of the Palin hack, the release of "who done it" (and we can't rule out other political parties or anything else). And this is this big Q..?.. What did she and her team really learn? What new installs are in place and her restrictions now that it's all out?

Chances are, he won't get this, but I think he should. Claims of ignorance that he didn't know it was wrong, or the gravity of the situation is no excuse.Trial is set for Dec. 16. Kernell faces a maximum of five years in prison, a $250,000 fine and a three-year term of supervised release.Leave a comment:

Sorry Thorn;
The political silly season will be over soon. It is very encouraging to see so many Americans paying attention. The way it should be.

Re: Sarah Palin: hacked by Anonymous
Let's not go there. I'm sure that plenty of people would be more than willing to get equal time and sling mud about the Dems, and it will be all downhill from there.Clearly you haven't seen the Katie Curic interview or Saturday Night Live
. Honestly I would have so much more respect for her if she just up and said I don't have any foreign policy credentials. Rather than the bimbo-ish Teen USA like rant about Putin and our airspace. Even Babe Buchanan on CNN had a hard time keeping a straight face. "She makes Dan Quayle look like Colin Powell"
At least it makes for entertaining late night fodder.

Edit:
OK, too late.Ahh, yes KC the one replacing Dan Blather on the Communist Broadcasting Network, adding futher revenue loss for CBS. Letz c the moose hunter was a mayor, a governator, and an NRA member. Far more exciting than the Chicago piano who wants our change in return for no hope.
Either it all political comments stop immediately, or the thread closes.Leave a comment:

You're swerving dangerously close into discussing politics, which is something that I have made it a point of leaving out of this thread.Clearly you haven't seen the Katie Curic interview or Saturday Night Live

Good Samaritan laws don't cover those who CAUSE an auto accident, even if they come to the aid of the other driver afterward. A law like what Dr. Carr is proposing would be nothing more than license for every skriddie out there to go after any system they felt like attacking. "Oh, I caused harm? Well, you can't touch me because I didn't MEAN to do that."http://www.securityfocus.com/columnists/481?ref=rss
I think this kind of directly applies here. We can run analogies to shooting the messenger until the cows come home (here, that's around 6:30pm). But the point remains that an intrusion, is the crime, not the intent.
The fact of the matter is that you shouldn't be on other systems unless you're invited/hired to be there. It's that simple.Leave a comment:

But the point remains that an intrusion, is the crime, not the intent.Originally posted by TFAEarlier this month, SecurityFocus reported that a 20-year-old student at Carleton University in Ottawa, Ontario, faces criminal charges because he allegedly breached the security of the school's network. The school did not detect the attack on its own: The student sent a 16-page report detailing the security issues and potential solutions to network administrators and other students.Leave a comment:
