For anyone that has old hardware, I just wanted to mention that I do various crafts using primarily old PCB's. Motherboards, hdd boards, old cards... anything of that sort works nicely. So, if you have an assload of these, bring them along, and I'll be happy to relieve you of them!

Okay Octal, you want old stuff for clothing and crafts?

Do you prefer half-height or full height drives? :D

Full height works best for lamps, but half height are easily modded into nightlites and business card cases. I take what I can get. =o)

I once saw about 20 CDs string together to make a row of them, then take about 12 rows and make "love beads" to hang in doorways. I'm surprised we don't see the "World's longest CD chain" being made, oh we can do that at the con!

Those CDs are everyhwre, though I must admit I love some of the cases they send the CD in, as if they are mailing gold bars. I used to get angry about Avon catalogs and girl scout cookie signups in the break room, but I'll take them all back 100 times if it would get rid of whoever is volunteering the AOL disks!

Just take them. We've got someone who wants to make a railgun which would fire them. I'm guessing they'd have to have some kind of spin on them though.

I think I have seen this done before.. I think the spin was applied by a high rpm rubber while and the cd was launched by some spring loaded cage.

Here are some other ideas for such a project:

Or one can always create a newer Hellraiser CD Cenobite:

I think a lot of people would really enjoy that.

I recall long ago *accidentally* lauching a potato with one of those 3 person slingshots.. into a car grill... they actually turned into fry's.. :) The PG's on the other hand could be dangerous at close range :)

I know that a potato in an exhaust pipe will blow through an aluminum garage door, I wonder if we could play Battleship, volleying potatoes from pool 1 to pool 3... :D
