  • DCX Collaborated Wardrive?

    Greetings,

Is anyone aware of any collaborated wardriving taking place at DCX? Wardrive-by-Taxi, WarWalking, WarFlying-by-Helicopter, Hot Air Balloon?... etc? I have searched this board and currently have not found any threads discussing this.

It would be a good thing if we could get more area coverage, one or two per car(using radios) and slice up vegas like pizza... then later get back together and merge all the data and everyone who participated gets a copy :)

Some of my friends are bringing 802.11 equipped laptops, and I'm pretty sure we would be up for anything. Could you point us in the right direction RE: the software recommended for this sort of thing?

Also, I'm going to be called the FCC sometime soon to see if I can get a listing of all licensed frequencies in Vegas. For the past few years I have had a list of frequencies used by hotels and casinos, but it's now woefully out of date, and I would really like to be able to hand these out so the scanner freaks would know what they are listening to.

(I have a cruddy radio hack scanner. I would really, REALLY like a Yaesu transceiver, but alas, I am a poor college student.)

me too I have the 900mhz trunk scanner.. forgot the model number bought several years ago.. i think I have a lot of radioshack radio stuff... haven't found too much of a need to replace it... though a few cons a go we lent one out during a dumpster dive/ scavenger hunt with P... and never heard from the kid we lent it to... well we learned our lesson... it was a dual band ham too... :(

Ok, so it's turning into something...

Why doesn't someone make it official? Someone take control and run with it. Set up all the teams... max of 4 people per team. Take whatever antennas you want. You have 2 hours to drive around town and collect all the APs in LV that you can. The team with the most APs (still listed in like NetStumbler or something) wins. Then you merge all the data and give it out to all the teams.

Actually, I'd do this twice. Do it once on Friday around lunchtime when everyone is still at work. And do it again on Saturday.

                        Just my 2 cents.
