The contest will be limited to 2 hours. So you may be ok on battery. I have found that my PCMCIA Orinoco Gold drains my battery BIG time. Normally I get between 4-6 hours with my battery (assuming I am not running much). With the Orinoco in, I get about 2.

I've got a full size car reserved, and I'll be bringing a power inverter. Can't offer much more than that, but if you need a ride for your team, holler.

I have a 300W power inverter I bought for the drive last year and I never used it. It's still in the original box! Maybe I can donate it to the schwag committee, or to the first person who drives to the con in a Yugo.

I have a question for those of you that are planning to participate. EMP, blackwave and I are getting the details together so that we can make the official announement of the contest and get the info on the contest in the DC 10 program. Is ANYONE who is planning to participate planning on using software that is not wi-scan/wl-scan compatible?

I don't want to limit what the entrants can use, but in order to use the plotting/mapping software to determine the winners, we are going to have to have SOME consistency.

Let me know, either on here or send an email to chris@defcon.org

          Thanks

            Thanks for the tip redburnz,
Luckily the 3 I ordered were shipped yesterday afternoon. I got the refurbbed because I already have 6 or so cards that I fiddle with and thought it would be nice for a backup, or to take apart for something or another. Usually when I get something i want to keep for a while I get the brand-new ones. :) Also i couldn't pass up the great deal. Like fry's was selling the ActionTec Prism cards for 29 bux, brand new in the box... so I had to get some of those, they are probably sold out by now too.

I have a Garmin eTrex Legend, paid too much for it.. especially since I only use it for stumbling... you can get an eTrex basic for around 50-80 bux depending on where you look. All you need are the NMEA senteces and a solid com port to get the data.

I'm using MapPoint 2001 at the moment, anyone know if there is an "upgrade" product available for this?! I'm not paying $200+ to upgrade. Also, does anyone know if there are add-ins for NS for MP2k1?

                  Thanks,
                  Kai

You can find anything you seek out on the net, you just have to look.:)

I haven't seen any info laying around for MP2k1, only MP2k2, I have never tried any of the following plug-ins on the older version(try them out, they may work):

Actually found an FTP site listed on NS that is still up. Downloading ISO 1 now! Soon as that's done I'll grab ISO 2!

SHHHHhhhhh... It's a public secret! BTW, if you are using NERO to burn it make sure you read more ;) If you use the defaults it is more likely you will create a coaster.

Yeah, read about changing the block size as well!

I'm assuming that's you over there?

                          :)

Have you tried Sniffer Pro 4.7? I see that's on the site as well and is supposed to include drivers for Orinoco cards. Hope that means it will work with the 1150 I ordered! I'v used Sniffer Pro for years and just feel more comfortable with it.

                          Items Purchased for DCX:

                          Dell TruMobile 1150_____________$49
                          E-Pak backpack________________$36
                          Garmin EtrexVenture____________$118
                          SouthOrd 14pc LP Set___________$35
                          Jensen 300W Inverter___________$33

                          Left to Order:
                          Stumbler Special________________$85

                          Total:
                          $356

Damn, really did not plan on spending that much! Just waiting on the Antenna/Cable combo to see if there's better pricing. Electro-Comm has a good looking antenna for $45 and is local for me, so if hey have a good price on the Orinoco - N I'll just pick it up there to try and save some cash!

You bought all that stuff? Why don't you just download Richard Nixon's credit card number like everyone else? :)

Actually all we have ready are the camelbacks, the laptops, and the plane tickets, I'll try to bring the PIXs....

I know I have spent quite a chunk on stumbling in itself... now I am really wondering if I should pick up that iPaQ 39xx for 799.00... I really want one, and didn't go for the "underground" @migo deal. You will notice that I will always take the long way around the pool.. ;) ;) Check out the directionals on signull.com.. they looks like ray guns and ray rifles.. :) The SS is a great deal, Borg Man is one hell of a service oriented guy.

Pretty much anything and everything you will ever need is on there. ... but of course I wouldn't know anything about that...

NAI Sniffer Pro should have no problems working, it worked out of the box with ORiNOCO Card... and since the true mobile is just a rebadged ORiNOCO, it should be fine, my 3 truemobiles are currently being shipped... and I got the drivers from dell's site, so I should be in good shape :) I was thinking about picking up another SS, and an extra pigtail..

I just found both of my hydration packs, one external and one internal... both of them had some left over stuff from the last paintball game... I forgot all about cleaning them out since I was too tired from coming back that night... now there is greenish brown looking stuff all around the mouthpiece and the tube.. I don't think the cleaning kit I have will do the job.
