Just wondering guys, is DefCon for "ordinary" people that don't have much experience with security, wireless, hacking etc.. or is it only for the "leet computer geeks"?, by that I mean the people who knows their computer like the inside of their empty wallet.. :) I'm pretty young now, so I don't think I'm going to DefCon in a few years, more specific 6-7 years. It sounds and looks fun to be there and see what the DefCon people really do, maybe drinking and partying :), but i think I also would have enjoyed to see the more serious stuff like the contests and the speeches.
I have watched some pictures of man wearing a laptop on his back, I think it was some sort of war-walking.. Have you seen him?
Two of my favourite clips from DefCon was the wall of sheep clip and the spot the fed clip. Who would know that the fed had humor..?

We need normal people so we can either throw them into the pool with all their gear or have them face pool2girl.

"Spoding" the fed is illegal in most states...so be careful!

It was most likely Renderman with the backpack...

DefCON is just like every other friggin' con, it is what you make it...you can go and have a good time and meet new people, or you can go and have a crappy time.

Everybody just take a deep breath... then, ask yourselves, do you really want to encourage the kind of people who take an interest in and/or participate in pool2girl type antics.

If Defcon is cancelled again we'll just have a party at the home of $Las_Vegas_Host_Entity
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

Capture the Flag is one event. Check on the events page for last year and see how many would be assisted with a computer.

Yep. The *convention* has been open to people of wide ranges in age.

As a minor, you may find problems getting you own room, getting others to let you use their room, and/or getting a ride to the convention. Search the threads in these forums for similar discussions with many good ideas.

This thread ~post 31, minors and rental cars, more issues with being a minor.

I have heard nothing about the AP becoming a casino and this effect on minimum age requirements for people getting rooms at the AP. There are other hotles withing a block of the AP though.

                              being a minor

Thanks for the info... it helped. Just out of curiosity, have you ever seen minors at these "night parties"? Do you aged folk actually let minors participate... given their responsibility?

We keep the minors in large fenced in pens. They get plenty of water, food, and protection from the elements. Periodicaly one escapes, but luckily some of our attendees are good shots.
